Marc Bartley (what a transformation)
If anyone has followed Marc "Spud" Bartley's PL career, they are familiar with his quad injury he got at the pro-am last year squatting 1200 +.
He was out of commission for a while and had to have surgery. Then he came back and said he was gonna get lean and healthy since he was not gonna be lifting competively.
Boy did he. Check out the before and after pics:

It's awesome stories like this that make me laugh when people diss the physiques of powerlifters.
Awesome transformation, goes to show what a little dedication will do for you. He's still strong as hell too.

yeah exactly. He was what a lot of folks refer to as the stereotypical "fat powerlifter."
Low and behold, when he cuts he reveals an ass load of dense muscle in all the right places. Imagine that.

I saw Marc this past weekend for the first time in about 6 months and I had to have someone point him out to me. The guy works his ass off, if you read his log and see all the cardio and sled work he does...that takes some serious mental toughness. Not to mention he is a great guy and nice as can be.

Exactly. He's put in a massive amount of effort, and determination, etc etc, and he looks great for it.
Agree with what ArchDukes said as well, lol, surprising that he actually has muscles once the fat goes away... Not.

Yeah, some loose skin just under his abs. Not really surprising when you think how much weight he lost

The craziest part to me is how he hasn't lost too much strength really. Not to take anything away from the incredible dedication it took to lose all that fat, but he is still putting up great numbers. I can't wait to see when he gets back up to about 235/240 and solid. He's gonna be a monster.

I've been following his logs on Elite since his injury, and although I knew he worked his ass of, I didn't think he'd be that shredded/jacked. The part that impresses me is that he's still moving a ton of weight. I can't even imagine what it would be like squatting on a low carb day with 2 hours of intense cardio done before. He is very disciplined.

I'd go as far to say the best transformation I have ever seen. Simply amazing.

For those of you who have not squatted while low-carbing, the squatting itself is not what kills you. It is how sore you are after. No carbs = a lot more pain for me.
Amazing transformation, though.

I've tried the whole low-carb thing, and I generally just felt ****ty the whole time I was doing it. Didn't last very long, and hated every minute.

Actually my preferred way to diet, assuming I time/cycle my carbs properly. Some people are truly miserable that way, though.

It gets better after a while, so I've heard and read and stuff, but I didn't want to wait out the ''while''.

I'm surprised so many people seem to have done one, and been able to work out. I just had barely any energy to do anything, let alone work out.

Same here. I start to feel pretty hypo and such. I have been using Anabolic Pump and seems to be helping with being able to take in more carbs...

Spud is amazing. When I see his physique now it makes me think of the coaching he does at seminars. Calm, logical, dogmatic approach to each step of the lift. I see alot of that in his logs too. i.e. re-reading the fat loss books to optimize his sled work. Calm, logical, dogmatic.
also, three things I'm not when I'm on a low carb day
I cycle over 3 days though. Probably the only way I havn't been fired/divorced. (lol)

check your PMs in reference to making a low carb thread in this section specifically for powerlifting.
The timing and cycling is what I want to know about.
