Pricey. But with the name cybex you know it's upper tier commercial quality right off the bat.

I ordered 2 pairs of kettlebells and some long db handles from them last year. The owner himself called me to finish the order and said it would go out in 2-3 days. Well..................needless to say that did not happen. After 2 weeks passed by I began calling to see what was the deal. I called and I called and I called. All I got was the office voicemail. This went on for over a month and a half.
Finally I left a very ugly message stating how this was a fly by night company that was VERY unprofressional, that I would be requesting a chargeback on my acct via my credit card company, and that I would be filing a case with my local police.
Then and only then did the owner finally call me back. And did he at least apologize? Um, no. He simply called to give me a tracking #. After that his words were "we've been VERY busy moving offices as of late, and we are used to handling MUCH BIGGER THINGS than this.........."
I swear if we were in person I would have stomped his head through the floor. But being that will never happen. I am content with letting everyone on the web know just how screwed up his store operates. Stay away!!!!

I have used the both and I actually own the tds 8515. I liked both. Though the body solid has thicker square tubing and can problably has a higher max capacity as a result. It's square tubing is 3" by 3" while the tds is 2 1/2" by 2 1/2". But is is on the narrower side at only 46" width.
I personally chose the tds 8515 because of it's width and the various optional accessories that can be added most importantly the chinning/pullup options. It is 48" wide(though I would prefer 50" like the powertec), has 2 pullup handles in the front and options for a mid rack pullup bar, pullup bar in rear, lat attachment, dip options, floor dip attachment, and rack dip attachment.
Though I will be first to admit that the tds lat attachments are piss poor while the body solids is of very good quality and much smoother to use. But it all comes down to what you are looking for in a rack big man.
I could care less about a lat machine/attachment because I do not feel they are effective mass builders for the back. I also need a wide rack because I use a wide grip on all of my pressing movements for building width. And I need as many chinning options as possible for building back width which is what the 8515 offered so that is why it was my choice.
You will have to purchase the rack that best fits your needs. Good luck.

The Tuffstuff RPR-265 Power Rack
http://www.tuffstuffitness.com/shop/...ct_detail&p=41
? Dual bar catches on the front upright allow user
to face in either direction to perform the exercise
? Lever action pull-pin release provides fast and
easy safety spotter adjustment
59x51x84 inches
What can I say about Tuffstuff that hasn't been said already. You know the quality that comes with the name. Albeit it at a premium price. This rack has the perfect width for wide presses and rows, lever action pull pins and spotter bars which make adjustments between exercises MUCH easier and quicker in my opininon. Also has good depth for squatting and deads. And a straight pullup bar up front which is ALWAYS a plus in my book. Also the lat attachment is one of the best in the business which is what you would expect for the price and the name associated with this setup.
Definitely worth the cash if you have it.

TDS 8515
DD's Rack
http://www.newyorkbarbells.com/8515.html
What can I say. I really, really LOVE this rack.
The disadvantages:
The width. It's only 48" wide. I am a FIRM believer that all racks should be at least 50" wide. If not you will not be able to use all of the gripping width of the average 7 ft olympic bar between the collars.
The lat machine. What can I say. It is what it is. Terrible. The weight carriage always leans to one side and olympic collars don't fit it for some odd reason. Also the knee holder is a joke and will NOT hold you down during heavy lat pulldowns.
The color. I wish tds would go back to the dark charcoal color they used to use. It looks so cool. The powder coated white is just so plain and mundane.
Now for it's advantages:
Endless options. If you go to www.newyorkbarbells.com you will find countess accesories for this rack. Numerous pullup and dip options which is always a plus in my book
At 48" width it's decent width wise but it should be wider. But this rack is nice and deep at 58" deep. Plenty of room for squats and deads.\
At 83" high it's just the right height for most rooms.
Though I've made numerous modifications to my rack (welded more chinning options, angled dip bars, bentover row attachment)
And I will be making a few more modifications to it this weekend. And my masterpiece will finally be finished. Pics to follow. MUHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!!!

Wow nice! If there was any better feedback, but from "rack expert"!!! I feel I could go out and buy it just because you have it. Lol...
I too prefer wider pullups and the unique options from TDS are great.
Can you verify the dimensions for me. On NYBB's 8515 specs (I'm assuming it's the same as the TDS 8515), it's listed as 59"W x 58"D x 83"H- 250lbs.
Is it only 48"Wide??? If it is only 48"W, then what's the difference between the 8515 and the 92563?
Thanks!

Well the 92563, 8510(discontinued I think), and the 8515 are all based on the same design. The only difference is the 8115 is about 10 inches deeper than the 92563 rack and uses different crossbeams on top.
I needed more than one pullup bar so the 8515 was my obvious choice. If you only need one pullup bar though and you like this design you might want to go for the 92563. It's only $362 shipped at g pacillos company. But if you will be using a lat attachment stay far away from TDS.

Everything listed is correct except the width for the 8515. It IS 48" wide. When I called the engineer at nybb about this he stated that the measurement comes from the width of the rear base that extends another 5 " each side from the frame itself of the power rack. This kind of pissed me off because it's false advertsing especially since the listed width was the main reason I purchased this rack. But oh well. It is what it is.

And since my rack is narrower than 50" I think I will be buying these to use with my bench. They will allow me to do wide grip presses/shoulder presses and wide grip rows unrestricted.

Unfortunately, in my experience shopping for me and my friends, I have never been more UNDERWHELMED as I have been by Tuffstuff equipment.
Their angled smith combo is not even as nice as the BS series 7, and a lot more, their benches, power racks, etc.. all are overpriced and underbuilt.
They seem to be just a name, I have never seen a piece of their equipment I would pay for to have in my home or gym.
I have seen a lot, and been to several MFG facilities. They are average build at premium price.Last edited by ctgblue; 08-05-2008 at 11:03 AM.

I have had the TDS 8515 (or whatever the equivalent model was back then) for about 5 years and love it. Like everyone else said, very solid, simple, and and lots of options. I use a freestanding lat machine, as I have not seen any power racks that do a good job with the lat option. I think you lose too much flexibility by hanging a lat machine off of a rack, because it is always going to close off one of the walls.
