what are the real consequences of partial ROM?

*not that I plan on doing this, just a random curiosity*

if someone spent their life working their legs with half squats/leg presses.... how would the muscles be lacking? lets pretend they end up doing partial squats with ridiculous heavy weight. would the muscles not develop mass? would the lower half of their squat still remain pathetically weak?

Yeah I think you would just be really weak on the half of the squat you didn't do.

Also I think there are other side effects. I think it shortens the muscles fibers by doing half reps. I know I was told if you do 21's on biceps all the time it gives a good peak but shortens the muscle fibers or something from doing all the half reps.

    Wasted Time
    Wasted Effort
    Development of restricted flexibility
Limited stretch and contractions resulting in lack of muscle stimpulation causing lack luster growth.

unless you have a specific medical condition you should be using full ROM to the greatest potential of your own body

The muscles that aren't fully utilized would probably be underdeveloped.

Take the squat for example, the lower you go the more ham/glute involvement, whereas the top half if primarily quads. So, if they spent all the time doing just the top half of a squat, then I'm pretty damn certain their hams will be lagging compared to their quads, and they probably won't have a good booty the girls talk about.

Yes, the lower half will remain pathetically weak, at least in comparison to the top half of teh squat they're doing. Sure, it will still go up some, and it might not be pathetically weak compared to others, but when paired up with their own stats, yes, it will remain weak.

I can go a bit furthur here. When I first started training, I got caught up in ego-lifting the squat. I'd pile on the iron, and squat about 1/2 way down. I wound up with quads shaped like carrots. It took a lot of hard work to undo that stretch of using poor ROM.
