    EVVO vs Corn Oil

    The macros look identical... so why is EVVO better then Corn Oil? Specifically, in a keto diet? Is it just the taste? or are there some inherent differences that make it a better choice for everyday use?

    I ask because of the price difference. Esp since I'm going to start adding some to my protein shakes to get the extra fat intake on days I need a quick meal in :P

    They're both heavily processed, extracted oils. They are divorced from their natural food source and undergo considerable shelf-aging.

    I don't advise either, nor do I advise any extracted or "free oil." They have no appreciable flavor and are a waste of money. If you insist on extracted oil, sesame oil is perhaps the best because of its extreme heat resistance (heat is used during extraction), and it therefor retains its flavor post-extraction.

    You can use heavy cream or butter for extra fats. These are merely "seperated," rather than pressed/extracted.

    I use all types of oils, tried most of them. I currently am on a bottle of grape seed oil. Its very fine and has almost no taste, expensive though.

    But so, why are you using grape seed oil versus corn oil? Does corn oil take away from the flavor?

    All oils have a mixed ratio of saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Mono is supposedly the best for your heart.

    Smoke point (the temperature at which an oil starts to burn) and flavor are also worth considering.

    You can can buy regular olive oil (not extra virgin) if you want to save cash. Extra virgin has more nutrional value as it is less processed but it will have a stronger flavor and higher cost.

    I only use flaxseed oil, coconut oil, canola oil, and EV olive oil.

    i use coconut oil in my choc flavored shakes.
    yes, sesame has great flavor, but it's would NOT be a wise addition to a protein shake.
