It's effective in it's convenience only.

Obviously, a membership to a decent gym is much more beneficial. But, if you cannot make it to the gym on a regular basis, then it's a proper purchase.

Also, look into buying a free weight set as an alternative.
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

It's an overpriced piece of ****. Plain and simple. A simple power rack is a 3rd of it's cost and 300 times more effective.

I have used an Ultimate 2 since January. It is as well made as my Hoist brand and the Cybex brand pieces I also have. I now use the Bowflex almost exclusively. I get a much better burn feeling and true muscle exhaustion with the "rod" type resistence. I am maxed out with the resistence on a few excercises on the Bowflex so I do use the free weights and other cable machines for those. I would have never progressed this far this fast without the bowflex. Understand though that if your goal is to be a mammouth dude the Bowflex will only take you so far. I met one guy in a gym while I was on vacation who railed against the Bowflex. Later he came around to admit that he made it to 215 pounds bodyweight and 7% fat at a height of 5ft 8in before he could not go any farther on the bowflex. Then he joined a gym for access to heavier equipment. If you had seen me back when I started on my machine you would see what I mean. If space is your biggest issue, try one for the trial period. Just don't look for mine on ebay cause it'll never happen. Good luck!!!!!!!1

free weights are teh way to go!

adn if you MUST get a machine, try plate loaded. this power rod stuff is a scam. its like a more expensive version of bands.

and benefit it may offer is completely overridden by the price.

If you really wanna spend money and get a machine..get a leverage gym like the Powertec WB-MS. I just got one as a gift and I love it (I also have a bodysolid power rack and cable machine and a crappy sports authority smith machine.) Pretty much have the ultimate home gym setup now.

It feeling great is one thing. But building actual mass with it is a entirely different ballgame.

Been watchin' too many commercials. BoFlex alone will not do it. You will need a good/great diet as well...unless you are naturally blessed with good genetics.
