Weight closer to arms or further away - BB

After doing bicep curls with 5 x 5kg (25) i noticed it was harder than curling 1 x 25kg plate on each side, is there a reason for this?

Because i noticed that when u load 5 x 5kg on the bar the weight is spread over a greater distance on the bar and the load is further away from you biceps, so your biceps have less control over the weight?

does anyone have any info on this theory, coz im still tryin to decide which is the better training method.

thnx

I can't really figure how that'd make a difference to be honest... I'd just use the heavier plate because loading on a bunch of small plates is too much of a hassle. To make it harder you could just add a 5kg to a 25kg for a 30kg instead of bothering with 5x5kg.

It's more efficient and stuff and leaves the small plates for people who need them.

The big advantage to a bunch of small plates would I guess be if you were doing drop sets and a friend was taking them off for you, but they could do that witha 25+5 too, maybe only with 2 tiers instead of 5..
