Pulldowns and close grip rows, there's no way you can isolate the smaller back muscles
I prefer to train when few people are in the gym. Even if the place is packed, I pay no attention to the other bodybuilders except for my training partner. No eye contact. No talking. Even between sets, if I'm not helping my training partner, I just sip water and look at the floor, making it clear that I don't want my mental focus to be interrupted.

ignoring that confusing reply, I have to agree with the last poster: doing proper pulldown versions of back movements will hit the teres muscles fine.

Wider grip vertical pulling exercises hit the Teres muscles.

the teres major assists the lats, so no real way to isolate them (I think a lot of people here get the teres major confused with the lats).

The teres minor is similar to the infraspinatus in that it is primarily an external rotator of the humerus (google external rotations).

    hope that helps

    Good post...

You can never isolate them but you can emphasize them more intensely by using a wider grip on pulling exercises as opposed to a narrower grip.

Go West Or Go Wide for the Teres family.

Behind the neck pullups do the job better than any other for directly hitting this area for me. Best pure widthbuilder I know of for the back.

really, just pull stuff and you'll be fine (vertical, horizontal, angled or to the groin, nose, ears-wherever).

Lol. They've been after me for the last 5 years around here. DD knows widebodyology. The rest around here can "theorize and debate" all they want to. I could care less.

It really doesn't matter either way. Though as for me personally I would bother with pulldowns at all as I feel they are a waste of time.

Probably because DD can do pullups and chins which make pulldowns very inferior. Just a guess though.
