Project Iron Meg
So after keeping up with others who have journaled on here I thought it about time that I started my own... I am going to really make an effort to post each day's meals and workouts... my work and school schedule sometimes make that really really hard though, but by golly I'll try. I don't really plan sets or a specific routine when I go to the gym I usually have in my mind the exercises I want to do and really go with how "spent" my muscles feel.... I usually aim for 10-12 reps and 4 sets with as much weight as I can handle, then after I get everything I planned to do in I go back and do lighter weights and higher reps of the exercises until literally I can handle no more... this makes keeping track of EXACTLY what I do in the gym a challenge, but y'all will get the idea... maybe I should bring a notebook with me to the gym to keep track? But I fear that might slow me down....
Anyhoo.... Here is a re-cap of the last two days...
TUESDAY= BACK
30 minutes on the Arc Trainer (kind of like an elliptical but better IMO)
Rear Deltoid Fly Machine 4 sets ~12-15 reps
Machine Row 4 sets ~10-12 reps
Wide Grip Pulldown 3 sets 12 reps
Closed Grip Row 3 sets 12 reps
Closed Grip Pulldown 3 sets 12 reps
Widegrip Rows (using the pulldown bar) 3 sets 12 reps
Straight Arm Pulldowns 6 sets 12 reps
Closed Grip Pulldowns 1 set 10 reps
Single arm DB rows 6 sets 10-12 reps each arm (started with 25 lbers and dropped weight as my arms turned to jelly)
Bent over BB row 3 sets 12 reps
Rear deltoid fly (on incline bench) 3 sets 10 reps
DB pullovers 3 sets 12 reps
Single arm DB rows 3 sets 15 reps (lighter weight... i think I used 12 lbs here)
I think that is the majority of it.....
WEDNESDAY = CHEST
30 minutes Arc Trainer
Pec Fly Machine 4 sets 12-15 reps
Incline chest press machine 3 sets 10 reps
Chest press machine 3 sets 10 reps
DB chest press 8 sets 12 reps
DB pec fly 8 sets 12 reps
Chest press with one DB not two 3 sets 10 reps
Chest press machine 3 sets 12 reps (lighter weight this time)
Pec Fly machine 1 set 12 reps (lighter weight)
I think that was all... hard to remember... Also I didn't do all 8 sets of things together... I supersetted the fly and press mostly... I am usually ALL OVER THE PLACE lol.... It's not that I get ADD in the gym, I think that the SUPERPUMP kicks in midway through my workout so I am amped to do more than I planned and just try to own anything and everything...
Anyways, today is Thursday and I am definitely sore! My chest more than my back... Tonight I plan to do a long cardio session and abs... That's all for now!

Haha... yeah... maybe it needs some tweaking.... feedback is always more than welcome!! I swear though it is the SUPERPUMP that kicks in and takes over! I've been doing a cycle of days consisting of back/chest/shoulders/arms/lower body/abs.... Maybe I should do a split of some sorts.... I'll have to think about it.

Hey there, nice log!
Yes, if you're doing that much volume, I'd bring a notebook with you or some recording device (cassette recorder for taking audio notes) just because it might be difficult to remember what it was that you did when you get back home and write it up.

That is a good call... I will be working with a trainer starting this week so it will be nice to have a specific game plan to go by and follow... I was doing crazy sets before so I think it will be a good change of pace to do less sets but with my weight/intensity/grrrrrr factor!
thanks for stopping by... more to come sunday or monday

So today was my first official day of the game plan from the world renound JPhillips17... and might I say it was a FANTASTIC day to say the least... the food was a bit more than I can handle... haven't put down 3/4 cup oats in a LONG time... I thought I was gonna burst! And I didn't get all my ounces of chicken in but I came pretty gosh darn close... tomorrow I'm gonna get it all in though... every last morsel!!
As for the workout! It was absolutely AWESOME... I loved every minute... I was thinking that since I am used to putting in 1hour to 1hr 15min of lifting in per/body part when I made my routines that this wouldn't be enough but I felt the burn alright! And I still feel the burn now as I type this! YAY... gotta grow some mushroom caps for shoulders!! I wasn't lifting as much weight as I thought I'd be able to but I think that is because I was really moving through the routine with good intensity, so I just went with it and definitely felt it working... boy oh boy.... I am impressed JP!!
Here is the breakdown... gotta get used to this type of lifting and get my weights up!!
SHOULDERS:
HS Machine Shoulder Press 3 X 12, 10, 8 (25's) Never actually used this machine before... very fun
Full Range Laterals 3 X 15 (8-6-5) Wow... going ALL the way up makes a huge difference I was down to 5 lbers by the end when I usally do at least 10's
Superset (45/45, 45/30, 37.5/30)
Reverse Pec Deck (palms in) 3 X 10
Reverse Pec Deck (palms down) 3 X 10
Felt the burn... pathetic weight though...
Machine Shoulder Press 2 X 20 (30) My shoulders were crying by the end of the last set... could have used more weight on the first set though
Superset
WG BB Upright Row 4 X 10 Have always loved these!
Plate Front Raise 4 X 15 Never did these before, have always used DBs... really liked the burn I got from supersetting this!
Had to unexpectedly work a double shift today so my whole schedule got messed up but I managed to get in 20 minutes on the arc trainer before the gym closed... I wanted to do more cardio after the lifting session but the gym closed on me... I will make up for it tomorrow though and add an extra session!
On a sad note... my beloved heart rate monitor fizzled out on me within the first minute of my workout... so upsetting! Need to get a new one!
Can't wait for Day 2! LEGS!
