Why do I like using skinny bars so much?

Whenever I go to do lat pull down I'll change over the bar, even tho its the exact same just slightly skinnier and today someone asked me why I did it, then I realized I like skinnier bars..

    few skinnier things I use:

dip machine - we have two, one about the thickness of an olympic bar the other a lot fatter
pull up bar - one has thick grips on it, the other is again about the size of an olympic bar
ez curl bar - we have an old one which is a lot skinnier.
lat pull down bar - one with rubber grips making it thicker, other is just metal meaning thinner.

I use the skinnier bars for all of these exercises as I feel better contraction, is there any logical reason for this?

    Maybe you've got small hands.

I'm the opposite, I prefer training with thicker bars and attachments whenever possible. For whatever reason, I feel stronger when I go back to a regular bar.

Deadlifts are usually a good measure of grip strength.

I have relatively large hands, I can palm a basketball which is pretty rare for someone at 5"11.

deadlifts I havn't really got a chance to do too much of because I cant get the form down pat, I need someone to show me..

I like the thicker bars, I hate it when my fingers touch the bottoms of my hands with thin bars. makes the weight seem less stable.

I prefer thicker bars since I've got large palms and it strengthens my forearms.

everything is easier with a thinner bar, less strain on your grip
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

    +1

Thicker bars are more taxing on your grip, so you can lift more/longer with a thinner bar.

Dom I'm guessing that is why you feel stronger going back to a thinner bar.
