Time for Some Changes?

Within the next few days BodySpace will be sporting 200,000+ active profiles! Congratulations!

Along with the accomplishment and the sheer numbers, it might be appropriate to consider some home page changes.

Would it be possible to have a NEW MEMBERS section? Rather than showing the most recent profile photo, actually give some recognition or introduction to new members?

Would it be possible to have a WHO's ON-LINE NOW section? The addition of this and the new members section might stop the constant picture flipping by some members.

I was wondering how you came up with the TOP 6 thing. It seems to create a popularity contest and does not seem to fit with the mission and vision of BodySpace -- which I think is to be our KEY to bodybuilding success -- allow us to share feedback, track progress and meet goals. How does recognizing the TOP 6 (popularity contest) fit into that mission?

Would it be possible to have some review of photos before they are posted? I find MANY photos on BodySpace which I feel are offensive. I have read the guidelines and it seems that many photos are in violation of the guidelines, BUT, THEY SEEM TO STAY POSTED as long as no one complains.

In some cases, a photo has been removed, and the member just turns around and re-posts it. I would love to let my grandchildren see my profile on here and get hooked on bodybuilding, BUT -- WAY TOO MUCH OF THE MATERIAL ON HERE IS NOT APPROPRIATE for adults, much less teenagers.

In the MOST COMMENTS GIVEN and MOST COMMENTS RECEIVED catagory -- the counter is set for OVERALL -- not within the last 24 hours, like the other popularity counters. It would seem that this method eliminates any recent member from even the remote possibility of competing with someone who has been a member 2 years.

On the Bodybuilding.com store page -- there are similar categories, but for products, not people. However in the TOP SELLERS they don't limit it to 6 products, you can actually see the top 50 selling products. And the NEW PRODUCTS are actually that, NEW, not just flipped.

It seems very easy for anyone to make up a fake profile as there is no verification required other than a valid e-mail (which can be falsified in 90 seconds.) The numbers are growing exponentially and it would be nice to get some of these things under control before they become uncontrollable.

Thanks! ~Ray

...and another thing!

I totally agree with everything that is outlined and think this would make the site much more user-friendly. I wrote in several months ago that there needs to be a separate category for those over 50 (or 55) as conditions change. What works at 20 doesn't necessarily hold true at 50. I got a nice reply that they would work on that but nothing has happened.
