knee/elbow sleeves
hi all, apologies about posting this here...
seems like not many people visit the workout equipment forum and i thought you guys might know.

this last training regime my right knee sort of caved in a little and caused some knee discomfort which resulted in taking a break from heavy work for 6-7 weeks.
back trying to lift heavy again, but not maxing. this was the first time i have suffered any kind of training injury and would like to minimize my risks.
would knee sleeves be beneficial? only reason i mentioned elbow sleeves is as i was looking at the ATP Pro Gear deal, makes it worth while to get both.

any thoughts? and appreciate the help!

Just to provide the extra support etc. I am just worried as I read mixed reports on wearing them?

I wear knee sleeves on a regular basis, but it's more for warmth than anything else. If you have knee issues, there's not a lot you can do that will work better than strengthening the joint. Look into knee rehabilitation exercises, such as terminal knee extensions with bands and the like. Knee sleeves won't hurt, but they're just neoprene and cloth, so don't expect a world changing event when you start wearing them.

Thanks for the feedback mate. It wasnt a major issue or injury per say, just was a first one for me while lifting, didnt do much damage at all.
For sure it's not a miracle, but right now I use Deep Heat on my joints pre-training (stinks a fair bit).

I used to have a lot of knee pain, then I squatted 3 times a week for months at a time and it's gone away. I do use some ace knee sleeves(stuff you buy at walmart) but that's just because it feels better to me.

I regularly wear a pair of standard neoprene knee sleeves from a sporting goods store. I don't like them as much as my APT sleeves, but they are thicker and more warm, so sometimes I choose to wear them.

i used to squat twice a week aswell for a couple of months and then had the injury.
so from my understanding is, there are no disadvantages to wearing sleeves 100% of time while doing leg work, and if i had a set i could probably stop warming up my joints with deep heat?
i was reading somewhere saying they are most beneficial during heavy sets, not warm ups. or is that wraps?

Sometimes I use a heat rub and the sleeves, there's no reason you can't, as long as it doesn't irritate your skin or anything like that.
As for sleeves, I'd put them on after I warm-up on the treadmill, but before I start squatting the bar or whatever light weight I was starting to warm-up on the exercise with. Know what I mean? As for wraps, yes, you'd only want to use them for a maximal effort.

I have a set of the rehband knee sleeves and they truly do make a difference in the way my knees feel while I'm doing legs, whether its squatting, oly lifting, deadlifting, they just plain help.
As said before, they won't do much for structural stability, however the warmth they provide to the knee joint practically eliminates any stiffness or tightness that one may experience before or in between working sets.
I highly recommend trying them.

Got them the other day, already tried them out once.
Great feeling, kept my knees warm and the compression makes a difference. Didn't use deep heat at all. No regrets about buying them and would highly recommend them to anyone.
The shipping wasn't all that quick and great, BUT, I didn't expect any better. Will be probably getting the elbow sleeves next, didn't buy them initially.

Just a small update.
Ordered elbow sleeves about 5 days ago. Already delivered. They threw in wrist wraps and straps. Very happy with the services and the sleeves feel great.
Knee sleeves have been using for the past two months on every leg workout, feels awesome!

You would want to strengthen your join before loading them with weights. Sleeves just give some support that is all
