Fat lost in cooking meat...

I'm curious if anyone knows about how much fat is lost when you cook meat...

Just wondering because I end up with a ton of grease after I cook ground beef (I'm using 80/20). Seems like a whole lot is lost.

I could do that! I sometimes just put it on my dogs food instead D:

But I make a lot of my food in advance so I'd have hardened fat all over my meat which doesn't look appealing...

Hmm I see your point. Perhaps try looking at a seperate source of fat for food on the go to make an allowance.

When you heat it up again the fat will melt into savory deliciousness... mmmm

.25 pound of RAW ground 80/20 has:
284 calories, 24g fat, 20g protein

after cooking it becomes .18 pounds and has:
204 calories, 13g fat, 20g protein

Thus 11g of fat melts out into the pan! All of this is according to NutritionData.com I hope it helps.

Yeah, it does. I guess I could've looked it up on nutritiondata myself. Just didn't think of it!

Is it seriously that much? That sucks butt.

It would have to specifically state that the serving is for a cooked portion- which is pretty rare.
