Today is my first day of contest prep for my first figure competition so I've decided to start fresh with a new journal. Here's a link to my old journal if anyone is interested: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=5608661 I look forward to leaving that one (with the injuries and excuses) behind me and putting everything I have into this upcoming competition.
Contest Date: November 8th
Brief history, last year I was FAT (and well, for several years I was FAT, LOL), started walking last March and then running last June. I lost over 45lbs and got addicted to running. Although I lost the weight, I was still unhappy with my body. Realizing I needed to do something more, I started lifting around the first of December of last year. I've toyed with the idea of doing a competition since my first trainer (www.julielohre) mentioned it last year but only recently decided it was time to see exactly what I'm made of it and just shut up and do it. I've enlisted the gracious assistance of Jaime (jaim91) and we're on our way! Who's with me?
Starting Weight: 115lbs (yes up about 4lbs in just over 2 weeks )
Chest: 33
Waist: 26 (grrr)
R Arm: 10.75
L Arm: 10.75
Hips: 33.5
R Thigh: 18.5
L Thigh: 19
R Calf: 12.5
L Calf: 13
Not loving the size difference between my two legs.
Now, let's start this off right, with a workout that made feel like I got the sh*t kicked out of me!!
Workout - Week One - Day One
DB Deadlift
12x35s
12x40s
12x40s
Need more weight but 40lb dbs are the largest I have. Oh Jaime.... What to do, what to do....?
Standing DB Row
12x20s <--tooooo easy
12x30s <--much better
12x30s
Might have been able to 35 I think but since I haven't done these before I wanted to make sure I was focusing on form and MMC before pushing too much with weight. I really, really like this...my back was a little mad at me though, ah the burn.
Straight Arm Lat Pulldown
12x35lbs
12x35lbs
12x35lbs
Now I remember why I stopped doing these. Cuz they are hard and I suck at them. LOL Not much weight but I really focused on using my back and making it HURT.
Back Extensions
12x25lbs
12x30lbs
12x30lbs
Farmer's Walk
3x30lbs to failure
My grip was giving out on these long before my traps. When we cleaned the basement last week though, someone moved my straps and I can't find them. Grr....need to find them or buy new ones.
DB Shrug
12x20s <-- too easy
12x30s
12x30s
I think I can do more weight on these but again, I've never done them before so I want to make sure I'm doing them right and focusing on the right muscles before increasing weight too much.
An awesome workout!! Bring on the DOMS, baby!

Definitely subbed and very excited to follow along! If you think about how far you've come and the results you've gotten in the last 16 months, the next 16 weeks will be a breeze!

Yay for a new journal to mark the start of your journey!!
I'm not so great at straight arm pulldowns either...seems slightly awkward, but I do feel sore from them, so they must work
Happy Monday!

I have a small confession. I'm a coke addict. Coke Zero that is. And Jaime has cut me back to 3 a day. Right now I'm jonesing so bad for a coke that I'd do just about anything for one...but I'm at my limit so I'll just be a bitch until tomorrow morning when I can have another.
That's it for today. Other than REALLY missing my 10 cokes a day, I'm doing fairly well.
WOOT! So glad you followed me, sweetie!
Aw, thanks for the kind words and encouragement!! Great to have you along!
Thanks Karina, you're the best!!
Thanks LC, I appreciate the kind words and support!! Great to have you along!

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Well, I woke up C-R-A-N-K-Y and hungry and tired. So I cracked open a coke zero (one down, two to go), and started looking at competition suits. My mood is better now. hehe Though, I'm starting to think the hardest part of this whole thing is going to be deciding on a suit (design, color, fabric, etc). There are so many beautiful ones!! Good thing I'm starting early. LOL
Workout first thing this am, I'm gonna call Paul to come over and help out cuz I've got benching so like having a spotter if there's one available and I love how he pushes me to work even harder than usual. I feel like I'm dragging ass a bit this am so that's just what I need. Course, some carbs at brekkie will help too, it's been FAR too many hours since I've had carbs.
After that is a shower and then head down for a small amount of shopping, (essentials only *repeats to self: I will NOT buy clothing, I will NOT buy clothing, I will NOT buy clothing*) and a bikini wax. We're far too much into summer and bikini season for how much I've let things grow out right now. ROFL Someone was telling me about a costume shop in the area that makes dance costumes and the like so just for fun I might swing in and see if they've ever done competition suits.
That's it for now, I'll be back after a little with a workout.
LOL, no worries...hump day will be here before we know it.
$19.95 plus shipping and handling. Can't beat that deal. LOL
And YES!! You two DEFINITELY have to come to TO...start saving some cash woman!!! hehe
LOL, my HAWT behind thanks you. *giggle*
And ya...I don't know if it was 10 everyday but ya...I was up to just about a case a day. Hell, I'd three just between supper and bedtime. No lectures, I know how bad it is. LOL
WOOT!! Hai Kurt, glad to have you, hon!
UBER!!! YAY! Thanks babe, I appreciate it!!
AWESOME! Great to have you!
LOL
Thanks Joan!! I really appreciate it! And back at ya now that you're in contest prep too!
LOL Thanks Vanessa, glad you're here!

DB Lat Raise
3x12@12s
Bent Over Lat Raise
12x15s
2x12@20s
Incline DB Press
12x20s
12x25s
9x25s <--oops, aiming for 12 lowered the weight so I could finish the set
5x20s <--did a couple extra cuz I was mad that I failed on 25s
Incline DB flye
3x12@15s
Never did these before...they are TOUGH
Bench Press
3x12@60lbs
Wide Grip Pushups
12 <--did no weight b/c I was so toasted didn't think I could add weight, but they were too easy with no weight, so.......
2x12@10lbs
Decline Bench
12x40lbs
12x50lbs
13x55lbs failed on 10, Paul grabbed the bar for a sec and then I did 4 more.

Hmmm...on second thought...perhaps I'm not the best moral compass for ya to be listening to. LOL
Hi Tara!!
