anyone think silva looked better at 205????
i thought his physique looked better at 205 then at 185. his face didnt look so skinny and his arms seemed thicker. i went back and wactched the fight with him and leben and what a big difference. i think he would do just as well in that division.

physically yes. at first when i read your thread title, i wondered if you meant his inring work because it would have been premature to gauge anything from the Irwin fiasco.

I was scared for him at 205. Like coming in in worse shape. But boy was I wrong. The man didn't gain any fat from what I saw. All muscle gain...Jesus...But yeah he looks healthier at 205 lol.

didn't look like he gained any real muscle. just didn't cut any weight. and i don't think he would last in this division. he would have massive problems with a counter-puncher like chuck or a decision fighter like forrest.

I thought his upperbody showed more mass, particularly his chest.

looked great... i definitely think he could threaten the top tier of the division; not much left to prove at 185.
i'm no silva fanboy or anything, i just don't see anyone really capable of stopping him, at either weight class, anytime soon; the striking, the knees, the elbows, the ground game...

^^ oh is that so?
i think the iceman could catch him, not that ide put $ on chuck i hate that dude but he could catch him..... i think forest would do decent maybe even win to be honest, he could win the takedown battle and not get knocked out and not get tapped... forrest takes hits like none other man so i could see forrest grinding a victory
also i could see cunglee beating silva... silva isnt the best takedown artist in the world man iono if hes bad but he isnt gr8, so i could see cung beating silva on the feet and then defending takedowns and winning in the end basically
those 2 are his most dangerous fights i think
also if gsp was to go up to 185 then i mean thats basically a massacre, style makes fights and gsp too good of a wrestler in my opinion

i don't want to be a dick... but, have you been privvy to silva's ground game? takedowns don't matter to a man that could, if given the opportunity, destroy from the bottom.
by the time he works his way up to fight someone like chuck, the iceman may very well have put his best fights behind him. as for griffin... would be a great match, no doubt; but i don't think even griffin could withstand punishment from a man who's mauled franklin twice, and leben, and other strikers.
as for gsp... please, with silva's accuracy and reach...

He's a little undersized versus the other people in the light heavy weight division but he has a great chance in beating most!

He'd do fine against anyone at 205.
Henderson is arguably a top 5 205 pounder, and Silva demolished him (I was surprised actually).
Silva is a more accurate striker than anyone at 205, and it isn't like he hits soft either. If you can completely destroy the other top two guys at 185 like they are nothing, then no one should take you lightly at 205 where you don't have to cut as much weight.

u dont think forrest could withstand silva strikes? hahaha i think ppl getting blinded by the glass jaw irvin fight... forrest took all sorts of punishment hes like a hendo or a frank shamrock where taking punishment is concerned... i dont see silva knocking him out... n silva guard i mean is it really that deadly plz ive seen his ground game its good for his weight class but a guy like gsp or forrest who arent bad on the ground if they are on top its gona be hard for silva
by the way never call leben a striker ever again thats a disgrace

That's where he belongs. 185lbs. has zero challengers for him, and yes, he looked much healthier at 205lbs.

I hear silva was walking around at 230 prior to this fight. I also hear Fedor walks around at 233. Silva is 6'3, fedor is 6'.
You connect the dots. There are plenty to connect.

he gained lots of muscle.. he had the same BF but was 20 lbs heavier, how could he not have gained muscle rofl.. and yeah he looks alot better at 205, alot more filled out, he naturally walks around at 215+, so its a good weight for him, no middleweight stand a chance against him anyways, the 205 weight class is the class to be in for him, he can show what hes made of against harder competition. Liddell isnt complete enough to take him, plus hes getting old, and forrest would never grind out a decision with Silva, he isnt a good enough striker, and their ground games are even, or even go in silva direction, plus they are both 6'3 and silva is longer limbed so that takes away the advantage forrest usually has with height.

Well hopefully he doesn't become content fighting weak contenders like Cote in the MW division, cuz he has a legitimate shot at dominating in the LHW's IMO. I'd like to see him move up for good eventually. The only interesting fights left for him are Okami(who's out with a broken hand), then maybe a rematch with Henderson (who needs a win or two beforehand).

i read an interview where Spider Silva says that he walks around at 220lbs normally. i, too, think that he has a very good chance to do well at 205lbs. i wouldn't say that he could beat everyone but he could beat quite a few because of superior technique and accuracy.

I doubt he walks at 220 normally. He said he was 220 a week before this fight, and he was noticeably thicker than his previous fights. I'd guess in the past he's usually in the 200-210 range, depending how far out from the fight he is.

Yeah but he obviously didn't eat, period, to get to that weight. Which is a poor decision on his part.
Edit: my bad I was thinking about Vera.

He did look healthier. His shoulders and arms looked thicker. He obviously is strong as hell too, he basically knocked Irvin senseless with an off balance punch without his bodyweight behind it
