No poll in here because they are always manipulated.
After seeing Silva manhandle a good sized LHW, is it so farfetched to think that he could defeat Fedor? He was 220lbs 1 week before he weighed in, so weight issues are mute and should not be discussed.
I think it would be a sick matchup and a very hard fight to pick. A. Silva would be as quick or quicker then Fedor, whcih would negate one of Fedor's major strengths. Anderson has top notch BJJ and submissions, which would counter Fedor on the ground. Striking is an advantage to Anderson if you ask me.
Just discuss and dont hate, celebrate.

Anderson vs Fedor
It is universally well known, that in digesting our common food, there is created or produced in the bowels of human creatures, a great quantity of wind. That the permitting this air to escape and mix with the atmosphere, is usually offensive to the company, from the fetid smell that accompanies it. That all well-bred people therefore, to avoid giving such offence, forcibly restrain the efforts of nature to discharge that wind.

Fedor by adult-stage abortion.
Anderson beat a middle-tier 205 pounder. And if anything, Anderson Silva is a natural 205 pounder who is able to make weight at 185. Have Anderson beat some of the best at 205 first then he can move on to some of the best at the HW division. And if he's still left standing, then people can start talking about Fedor vs. Silva.
Anderson Silva is a great fighter. But he is nowhere near the best.
Fedor is the best fighter on the planet.

1. Fedor
2. Nog
3. Barnett
4. Mirko
5. Couture/Arlovski/Sylvia...
All these people I would put above Anderson Silva in a fight.
Like I said, Anderson has to still prove himself if he wants to be called the best fighter on the planet. There are 205 pounders that Anderson Silva probably can't get past much less HWs.Last edited by Z49; 07-20-2008 at 10:23 AM.

Weight matters. I'd bet on most of those people against Silva until he proves himself against some high quality bigger fighters. I'm assuming we're not judging them pound for pound in this thread and just on who would win.
Nogueira I might actually take Silva... I don't see how Nog's gonna get him to the ground and Silva would eventually mess him up on the feet. Mirko's a tossup. Someone's gonna get KO'd for sure. Ditto for Arlovski. But Fedor, Barnett, Couture, and Sylvia I think would all beat Mirko just based on size.

I answered your question. And so what if there are other divisions? Doesn't mean there's a qouta to put some of them in the top 5/10 just because. Like I said, I'm being realistic. If there was a GP and fighters of any weight divisions fought, I'm willing to bet, it's going to be mostly HWs left standing.

Ok, sounds like ALL think Fedor would destroy Anderson. I dont disagree but i bet anderson would open up a cut or two on Fedor.

I've never even seen Z49 before today and I wouldn't waste my time racking up 1000 posts on a troll account. If he thinks everyone on that list is more skilled than Anderson and better pound for pound then yeah, he's an idiot. However this thread is about what would happen if Anderson faced Fedor head to head, so obviously weight is going to play an issue if he tried to move up yet another weight class.

This has got to be the dumbest thing i have ever heard. This is a joke and a silva nuthugger response.
IN NO WAY IS SILVA IN THE SAME CLASS AS FEDOR.
Fedors game planning/ mental focus/ skills are way above anyone elses. Look at the fighters Fedor fought compared to Silva. Fedor has beaten almoste every single top 15 HW in the world. I mean demolished them. Silva has beaten Hendo (only legit person he beat) and Franklin (overated 185 div was weak).
Fedor doesn't wait and sick back feel out his opponent. He takes it too him. He tries to overwhelm you right from the beginning.
ITs post like yours that are so irritating in the MMA community.
