Good luck! I have a self imposed quit deadline of Sept. I might quit before then, but....
Anyway, best wishes.

I quit smoking about 14 years ago. It was the hardest thing I ever did! I'd rather have three more kids than to ever quit smoking again! I used the patch, and a ton of will power. Once I made the commitment to quit, I stuck with it. Now I hate smoking, with my whole being. My Dad died of lung cancer almost 2 years ago, I made a promise to him and to myself that I would convince and help just one person to quit, if I can help more, that's great, but if just one, than I've accomplished what I set out to do.
So, with that said, whoever wants to quit, and I mean truly wants to quit, I am here to provide all the help and encouragement you need. Do not hesitate to contact me, I am here for you!

I will likely try Chantix. I have a self imposed deadline of age 50, which arrives in Sept. I've been smoking for 35yrs, and I've tried; cold turkey (a few times), the Cigarest Program, tapes, the patch...blah, blah, blah. Never made it past 3wks in any case. 2yrs ago was that 3wk stint, and I really thought I had it beat for the 1st 2wks. This time around, I'll have some pressure from my kids (mainly my oldest son) since I announced a couple of yrs ago that age 50 was it. He has been eagerly awaiting for this time to come . I think about how much progress I might have made this past few years if I didn't smoke. But equally, I think about the progress I can make after I quit. I have overcome many obstacles in life, and I consider cigs to be my last campaign .

i quit cold turkey October 07 and haven't smoked since then. It helped that i moved out of a place that my roommate smoked 2 packs a day and it also helped that 3 other people at my job quit smoking too. Several other smokers at the shop relocated so now there's only 2 smokers at the shop instead of 7. My wife quit the same time as i did so its been good so far.

Excellent. Would've repped you for this but I'm on recharge where you're concerned. My Dad quit at age 50, inspired by his workouts with me. He, too, had smoked for about 35 years and I was concerned about him. But he managed the quit. What he did was a ****load of work around the house. On weekend mornings, instead of sitting at the kitchen table smoking constantly over coffee and chatter, he'd be out doing garden work or chopping wood like a crazy man. It worked. It'll work for you, too. Good luck.

Thanks WJ. It's funny, but I've been preparing to quit for over 25yrs, lofl. In college, I switched from menthol (Kool's back in the 70's ) to regular, and then to "lights", and then to "Ultra lights". But yeah, I smoke nearly 2pks per day We also quit smoking in our house when we moved to this one, 12 yrs ago. So, it's the deck or garage for every smoke. So yeah, LOL, the groundwork has been laid for quite some time...

Look forward to feeling better mentally and physically
I quit smoking 14 years ago and starting putting tobacco between the cheek and gum and did that for 3 years and freaking had it with my addiction. Eleven years clean with random cigar out on the Ocean fishing or golfing... ZERO this year, my humidor still gets dusted and hydrated. After quitting Cigs for a few months and my sense of smell and taste were normal. I found it easy to be hypocritical to smokers in vehicles and in a room. I never said anything but I was thinking it! After quiting the second hand smoke does piss me off and sometimes I have to just sit through a meeting and remember all the times I would smoke 2 in a row...
Congratulation for making the decision to quit, different flavors of chewing gum helped me do something with the hand to mouth urges.

The reason I asked chaps is because 5 years ago I used Alan Carr's easyway book and it worked a treat for me and for a lot of people I either shared it with or bought copies for - so I can recommend it!
The very best of luck to you - whichever technique you use!

I have been smoke free since January of 1990 a few months after I stopped drugs and alcohol. It was not as difficult as quitting those things for me. but it was still hard.
quitting smoking has proved to be one of the most life enhancing things I have ever done. I can imagine trying to make any real gains while smoking.
think about it, your working out trying to gain muscle, all the while your body is just struggling to heal the damage from the smoking, if your lucky you might get a little growth on the side. Just think of how much growth you will get when your body can focus %100 on building muscle!

Do it DBX, the Chantix made it unbelievably easy for me! I'm f*cking blown away that I actually quit! I too smoked for 35+ years and tried everything in existance, which always ended in failure. The Chantix worked for me! I'm DONE! Only used a 30-day supply at that.
Best wishes to all of you.

Funny thing. Aside from golf, bodybuilding is one of the only sports/physical activity that a smoker can excel at. OP, saw your pics. nice progress.

Good luck , I already quit , I tried several times but always went back
it was hard , then I tried a few months ago and it was so easy I couldn't believe it ..
your mental state is very very important, it counts I think.. 100%
the previous times I tried I was not really sure I wanted to , this time I did to prove myself I could and i did.. I still have the first box of patches that I never used. The first thing I did was to break all habits and routines like coffee in the am or wine/beer with dinner, I replaced coffee with black unsweetened tea and lots of water.
Now I can drink coffee, beer, wine etc.. it's good to be free

If it was not so grossly incompatible with not only my goals, but my entire current lifestyle, I would probably still be smoking...

Well, my main goal is living longer, but in a healthy state . I have brutally assaulted this body for decades. Time to give it another break. My father quit close to 50, and he's now 76 and been long enjoying his retirement, as well as being very active. I hope have the same results .

My father recently quit as well, though he very much needed to do that if he wished to continue living. The most I ever smoked was a pack a day and that was not for very long. Mostly I was around 1/2 pack a day or less...

Yeah, and I hardly even consider that having a habit. Nevertheless, it only takes a few smokes for some to get cancer....so one never knows. I was always jealous of people that could just smoke "socially". I guess I've always done everything to excess, as is my nature. I've been through 3 pack/day periods, but have probably averaged 1.5 over the years. I think this time around will somehow be different (crosses fingers).

Ahh, well, both myself and my brother picked up abnormal tolerance levels to a fairly wide variety of chemicals and I don't believe either of us has picked up the associative addiction properties that my father had/has. In fact, I don't think any of my siblings did. My body will show signs of withdrawal to caffeine, but mentally it does not tend to be an issue, if that makes sense. That is the only one, however, as even cigarettes did not create much of an effect once I quit buying packs of them...since I was smoking so comparatively little, I would get Dunhills, which are fairly pricey here. It was a pain to get them, so I just stopped one day and haven't had any since. There were gaps of years in between when I smoked and when I didn't, however...thinking on it some, it's hard for me to reconcile the smell that gets into everything with the relatively minor enjoyment I get out of them. I somehow always forget that part, rose-colored memory, I guess...my flatmate had to resort to those patch things to be able to stop...I should ask my dad what he did to quit...I meant to, but kind of spaced it...
