Yeah I knew you were going to go with the cops get paid we don't If you don't like it, don't mod, you're a volunteer but that doesn't mean you should act like a tyrant when banning someone. Not saying that you are, but when you offer no room for debate you're just showing signs that you're tired of modding. Why not step down? If you don't want to take the time to debate a ban with someone who's willing to do it in a civil manner, then step down.
Again the whol instant messenger thing is fine, and if people are not willing to debate their ban in a civil manner then suuuure go ahead and ignore them! Now if someone thinks the ban was unjust how are they suppose to get a hold of YOU if they don't even know who banned them?
Leave an e-mail, ignore the dumbasses that only want to b^tch and complain and offer assistance to those that want to maturely protest their ban. Other mods do this already."Modern man is conditioned to expect instant gratification but any success or triumph realized quickly, with only marginal effort is necessarily shallow. Meaningful achievement takes time, hard work, persistence, patience, proper intent and constant self-awareness. The path to such success is punctuated by failure, consolidation and renewed effort. Personal reconstruction is art." - MFT

-106119 I think it's stuck! (Thanks btw )
Fair enough. But you aren't forced to do it either.
I also like how you tell us how we are supposed to mod and what our responsibilities are. Have you ever banned someone? Have you ever spent time listening to the banned party? This is the primary reason I stopped using instant messengers. Because when people get banned, THEY are victims. Nobody ever breaks rules don't you know?TheDukeUSMC borked my rep!

Anyone with the name Atlas Shrugged isn't a troll, and probably shouldn't be in the red.
A Troll has no idea what that even means.
I posted "Who is John Galt?" in most of the OP's thread since day one...

I do like it, I'm not complaining.

I don't want to step down. I am quite happy being a moderator.

oh yeah? thats funny cause I'm not reading all that ****, I'm 19, if it doesn't look sexually appealing its not worth my time.
x2, i had to come back from a BPP neg. ive been in the red twice.
once thing mods could do though is adjust their reps to ban people, ie only take 50 pts way for some offenses and take 500 points away for tohers. thats fair, cause all the offenses are different and not all deserve -3435535353434634634634634634111111111elventybillio n111!!!11 rep points taken away.

Yes, I think it's fair to leave room for debate on a ban! Mods aren't perfect, and sometimes they make mistakes or take things out of context, I've had 2 bans over turned because of this. I personally only protest a ban when I feel it's unjust, most of my bans (and there have been a lot lol) have been legit, I broke the rules I knew I did so I just walked away.

I don't think anyone probably notices (or cares) but I am probably the last mod to ban someone. Banning is my absolute last report (unless its needless spam), and I very earnestly try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I also take up for and go to bat for many members who either get banned or have threads closed or deleted. If I've banned you, then you should know unequivocally that you've broken a rule or did something ban worthy.

I should also note, I could truly care less about reputation itself. However, as several have already mentioned, there is a negative stigma attached to neg rep which does hinder one's ability to receive feedback when posting legitimate questions. If rep were not given such power in the first place, I would have nothing to complain about. Bit it's almost like a virtual currency on here.

but this brings up a good point...with so much mod negging into the red going on and so many people feeling/thinking it's unfair...it's almost like it doesn't have the same stigma anymore - hence the phrase that's been going around "red is the new green"
(which I think is hysterical!)
but it's pretty easy to tell the REAL red guys from the others..in my experience anyway.

Here's a tip as well, because this is completely lost now.
Mods don't really appreciate disrespect and that is something that runs rampant nowadays. You have opinions, fine. More often than not nowadays I see blatant disrespect towards the mods. How are we supposed to feel sympathy or understanding for you when in return we get called out and bashed every hour? The other boards I mentioned moderating were much more strict. If there was any hint of mod bashing or insults that user was gone, no questions asked. Here, its become the latest fashion to disrespect moderators.Sinners in the hands of an angry Mod.

Very understandable...it sucks when some loser talks crap to any mod for no real reason. Disrespect of any mod is wrong, definitely. If a user has a problem with a mod, why not he/she pm/email the mod to take up the dispute instead, rather than calling the mod(s) out in a thread on the open forum? That definitely is the better way for users to to handle gripes with mods...

Why did you quote me?
My post had nothing to do with getting called out, or people disrespecting mods.
My post inferred that there should be rules across the boards:
[Examples]
Posting Porn? - 3 day ban
Trolling a member? - mod neg
Trolling a mod? - 1 week Ban
Flaming? - Infraction
Gay porn? - Permaban

Not that easy, continued offenders get longer bans for constantly breaking rules, one that spam porn get longer bans and starting porn threads.. Each and every ban is completely different just as in real life offenders. There is no straight forward punishment for people that break the law..it will ALWAYS vary..
