Brit's Beautiful Fit Journal
Hey everybody! My name is Brit and I am 19 and a college student in Texas (obviously haha!)! Im new to journaling and fairly new to bodybuilding, and hope to feedback and critiqing(is that a word?) and I want to be held accountable.
My goals are pretty simple I think. Fat loss is the main goal right now, and to build some muscle(I hear this is nearly impossible, but I know I feel a little muscle after just three months of lifting). After that...we will see I guess.
I do a three day full body routine, and am trying to keep cardio in my routine, but this is something Im definelty struggling with! I never realized how much I hated running untill I started lifting, and realized I loved it so much more. I usually run/walk inteveral for my cardio, and throw in some elliptical for some fun every now and then.
I try to eat healthy, and am working on eating cleaner, but this is something I struggle with too. Sometimes I just eat a Lean Cusine, because its so convenient. But, I guess Im a work in progress, right? Im going to try and start couting macros, but I dont know how well I will do at it. Any advice is appreciated!
Anyhoo, Im fixing to head up north with my dad and best friend for about ten days, and I though starting a journal now would be a great idea, so that I could make sure I have some sort of workout in that ten days without acsess to a gym. Im super excited about starting a journal, and hope to get feedback. Ill post a sample of my routine a lil later, and maybe a sample of an eating routine. I might put a pic up if I get brave enough, so I can give everybody an idea of where Im coming from. I know I got a lil long winded, but thanks for dropping by and please offer any critiquing!

Get yourself a workout split and dedicate some time to the gym, from there you'll be motivated to eat right because you won't want all of that hard work to be wasted.

Update
hey hey hey...im back from vacation now, back in Texas, thank God! anyhoo...after two weeks of fast food and minimal exercise(no excuses...just happened ;(), I got back to the gym yesterday. I decided to do three days of weights per week, full body routine, with 3-4 days of cardio per week. 3 days of interveals probably(not hit, just run walk run walk) and 1 day of steady state cardio.
My routine that I followed yesterday at the gym was this...
4 sets of...
Squats (65 lbs)
Back extensions (w. 25 lb weight(
chest press (55 lb)
lat pull down (45 lb)
bicep curl(15 lb)
supinated tricep bend (10lb- dont kno what its really called, found this in oxygen)
shoulder press (10 lbs)
My measurements of this morning were...
upper arm- right- 14 left 131/2
lower arm-right 10 1/2 left 10
chest 43
shoulders 441/2
waist 34
ribcage(beneath breast) 36 1/2
thigh- right 26 1/2 left 28
calves right 16 left 15 3/4
hip 45 1/2
as far as my meal plan today went...Im stil working on getting them small meals in. Was eating fairly healthy this mornin and this afternoon, but had Mexican food tonight( seafood enchiladas...yummmm!).
as always...critique is welcome and thanks for reading my journal!

as you might like to see from heidismommy 's journal your working out doesn't always have to be perfectly structured to be effective and good for your body.
i love mixing things up a bit.
but i totally understand how hard it is when the gym is filled with people, especially if you are under time constraints.

hey, so this week...I didn't get to town much and didnt get to the gym at all cept for today-and boy did I learn my lesson! It rained alot of the week here too so I only had one day of cardio, tho I did wash an airplane this week...thats gotta count for something! anyhoo...I've decided to put some goals down to be a lil more accountable. I kno weight isnt the best thing to go by, but I dont hav a way to measure bf% so right now Im at 202ish and my goal is to be at 170 by the end of dec. also, I'd like to be bak in my 32 in jeans.
now...for todays activities...
8 mins warmup elliptical
4 sets of 12
squat(65 lbs)
3 sets of 12-16
back hyperextension(w 25 lb weight)
chest press(55lbs)
4 sets of 12-16
lat pull downs(45 lbs)
cuban press(10 lbs-struggling so much, never feel like ima move up weigts)
hammers(15 lbs)
supinate tricep bend(10 lbs)
let this be a lesson to all, dont skip your workout, cuz i was dying today and felt like a ton of bricks weighed on my lungs. i dont kno if this was cuz i skipped this week or what the deal was!
so ima try to get atleast three workouts in this week and some cardio in between movin and stuff-then im going on vacay for a week. after that ill be back into a school routine so itll be good for me! thanks for stoppin by ladies!
tex

I do running/walking intervals on the treadmill too. They can be one of the hardest cardio routines I do.
Mexico sounds so warm and holiday-like. and boys you say???
I haven't been to America yet either. So i know nothing about Texas... or anywhere.
Doesn't sound like you are eating much?? that could be why its so hard for you to get in protein and vegetables
Hope you enjoy class today

You have mentioned a lot that you need to get more protein in your diet...I wanted to make a suggestion...To make sure you are getting enough you want to get at least 80% (if not 100%) of your body weight in grams of protein for effective muscle development/progress. So say you weigh 150lbs, you would want to get a minimum of 120g of protein a day. Try to spread protein evenly throughout each meal. You also need to make sure you are getting adequate carbs and fats....ratios based on what works best for your body
Try egg whites for breakfast with a good whole grain (english muffin, whole wheat toast with sugar free jelly, granola w/fruit) Sometimes I like to make a "protein scramble" Egg whites with another form of protein like diced ham, or leftover chicken from the night before, throw in some spinach or green peppers, and low fat cheese or cream cheese...YUMMY And it starts your day with a boost in your protein numbers for the day
For lunch you could try lunch meat or tuna (in a pita) or with crackers, cheese, fruit, veggies....(serving size portions)
Snack could be cottage cheese and fruit, yogurt, or a protein bar
Dinner could be some kind of lean meat with rice and veggies,
sugar free jello is an awesome snack also
For the best protein powder to supplement extra protein needs try Scivation Whey...It comes in Vanilla and Chocolate and has amazing flavor.
Scivation also gives out free diet/exercise information and regimines if you want to be a little more structured and geared towardd your goals..
Let me know if you have any questions!
