I'm cutting in 3 weeks time, but I am not satisfied with the progess these groups are making. I'd like to hit them hard and frequent until the cut begins, after which I'll go back to hitting them once a week. I know it won't have a tremendous effect, but I'm sure it'll be better than just hitting em once a week until then.
How does 3x a week for the next 3 weeks sound?

How often can you train traps and rear delts?

Yep. And I do a light medial delt workout everyday. I even bought into some of the overtraining bs for a while here and cut back to working my delts 2-3 times a week.
And my shoulders began to shrink. I ignored the fact until my brother commented on my smaller size. Now I'm back to listening to the one person I know is a shoulder expert. ME.
I do my thing every day and they stay pumped and are getting bigger every year.

You could hit them 3 times a week in a good routine you probably already do. rear delts usually get worked on any back day or training and usually some stimulation when doing shoulders. And traps get hit on shoulder day plus if you do deads or rack pulls or high bent over rows on back or leg day. Depending on your split and workout some people hit them much more often than twice a week.

Everyone is different man. The only thing I can tell you is you could try both approaches for a month or two and evaluate the results. For me a light workout everyday and one day of heaving pressing per week works best for me. Though I will throw in a set of side presses with moderate weight every 2 days as well.
I don't really get into the structured routine stuff. It's not for me.
