    ZMA !!! is it useless?

    I was just going through the mythbusters thread which is stickied on top i wanted to know does ZMA really have any usefulness other than good sleep ?

    Most probably not since one of the main reasons people take ZMA is becuase its meant to make sure your testosterone levels are as high as they an be but since your 18 your test levels should be really high anyway....

    If your worried about it though most multi's like animal paks and orange triad have the equivilant of ZMA in them anyway (Zinc, Magnesium and Vit. B6 i think)

    zma is not useless. it works but its not neccesary. i do feel alot more horny and have better dreams and sleep.

    i noticed no differents when i tried it, i possible slept a bit better but i also felt like **** in the mornings.

    As with many supplements you may just be feeling the placebo affect

    i take zinc plus which is mainly zinc but with added vit b6 and c, magnesium. take it with fish oil 20 mins before bed. i dont take it every day but it does help. honestly if someone is training naturally and not spending money on dat dere then why not?

    fair enough but some ZMA can get quite expensive when its in all good multi's, if you've got the money though it could be worth a go

    ofcoarse. its just a luxury i have haha. if u have been training, eating and sleeping right THEN consider something like zma. otherwise ur just wasting money.

    also to add is that zinc, potassium and magnesium deficiency can easily occur in bodybuilders. eat ur veges and banana's.

    i think its pretty unnecessary as I get a good amount of zinc and magnesium from my multivitamin and from 2 shakes a day plus drinking lots of milk which also contains both zinc and magnesium so I feel its not needed. suppose if you have the money to buy as many supps as you want, which I dont, then it may be worth getting.

    Ive been using zma for nearly two months now and it works for me. I would wake up lots through the night but now with zma I sleep right through and feel completely refreshed in the morning and ready to hit the gym again.

    TOO many variables in that study. for example where these exercising men doing low intensity cardio for 30 mins a day or were they lifting heavy weights for an hour? also it says no SIGNIFICANT increase. does this mean it never increase testosterone?

    Just buy Zinc if you want. Its cheap and it last you longer,
    and if you want something with better sleep then try melatonin
