When I first started it was 1800-2500 and I was burning anywhere from 3500-4000 cals a day.. Serious.. I was getting my butt kicked but fought it and keep doing HIIT, LIT Cardio and HIT resistance training with light weight and high reps..
Then I went to 2800-3500 cals and lifting heavy and LIT Cardio.. for a few months and with a 250-500 deficit I was just maint 220-230lbs..
Now, I'm cycling carbs and trying to get to 13-15% BF and 200lbs
