Just started the 300 workout today.
And I spewed some projectile vomit on the mirror doing 50 24inch box jumps. Great work out. Great vomit.

just so you know, it's not supposed to be a workout. it's more of a fitness test. the guys in 300 did that at the end of their couple months of training, not on a regular basis.
still. strong pukes.

Word. I'm only doing it twice a week. Trying to cut some body fat and bring up symmetry in lagging body parts.

first off man im not mad and im not talking bout you. i'm talking bout the morons that saw 300 and said "holy **** ima get ripped like them by doing this workout." i assume your not one of these idiots, and seein someone do it is fine. crossfit or the 300 fitness test is hard work. but when an entourage of people doing this takes up all the room it's irritating.

lol, for sure. Sorry for ripping so quick. But definately agree with the entourage of people doing it. I would get pissed as well. Beach body boys deserve a 45 to the dome and a quick neutering. I personally just got bored with my routines and decided to take it easy for a while.

its cool dude, but yeah that work out style will give the best endurance possible, i did it for wrestling and could do sets of 100 pushups and never gassed out during a wrestling match. it's perfect fr a change up or to take a week off from bodybuilding.

I did a few variations of the 300 workout a couple of times. They are pretty damn intense. You shouldn't do them more than once or twice a week though and it shouldn't be your method of workout. As someone said above, it's more of a fitness test than a workout routine. Great for endurance though. It's a fun switch up of things.

uneducated....
this is not a workout or a program that was meant to be done every other week, it was meant to test the athletes, stuntmen and actors who put they're fitness on the line in training for the movie.
it is in no way meant to be approached from a bodybuilding point of view.
read up on gym jones and its training philosophies before trying it again.
www.gymjones.com
still fair play if you completed it honestly using full reps & ROM

Tried it today just as something different to do and totally had my ass kicked. Can't say that I legitimately finished it because I had to break up all the sets into smaller subsets to get 'em done. But I gave every last ounce of energy and made the required reps in the end, so I'm feeling pretty good about it.
As was said previously, definitely a conditioning workout (which is why I routinely see guys from the football team here doing it) as opposed to a mass building workout. But I'm gonna throw it into the mix every few weeks just to see if I can improve or not.

If only they hadn't called it The 300 Workout it but perhaps The 300 Final Challenge or something, it could have prevented a lot of explaining that its not a "workout".

Who cares what its called. Im not too fond of doing doggcrapp training just cuz of the title, but it dont matter...its the principles of the training style. For example the 300 encourages improved conditioning and a self test. I throw it into every single week one day...it is my "kick the tires and light the fires" work out.

I commend your diligence in trying something hard to test yourself every week. If you don't mind me saying, I think you should try a different test every week. The point behind the Gym Jones type of training is to constantly do different things to test yourself. Doing the same workout every week will only make you better at the workout. Your body adapts, and you must give it new tests. If you look at the schedule on the gym jones website, you'll find the workouts they do daily. Some you may like, some you may not, but they're almost always different or at least variations. Give it a look if you're interested. I'm fond of these three, but there are dozens, if not hundreds, of others.
"Meritorious"
30x Handstand Pushups (or push press @ 115#)
40x Pull ups
50x Kettle Bell swing @ 53# (I use a dumbell)
60x situp (feet anchored)
70x Burpees
"Those Burpee's Suck"
10x Pull Up
20x Kettle Bell Swing @ 53# (or dumbell)
30x Box Jump @24" box
40x Push Up
50x Situp
60x Burpee
10x Pull Up
"More than 200"
3 rounds of
25x Box Jump @24" box
25x Knees to Elbows
25x Thruster
25x Push up
Move through them like you would "300". No timed breaks between exercises, but rest if you have to catch your breath. Keep working hard dude.
Peace.

hmm this is very interesting.... im curious to try it sometime. you actually probably could do it as a workout if you really wanted to. things like circuit training help build ur endurance. some MMA fighters like Rich Franklin lift 3x per week, each workout has apx 1500 reps.. non stop, no rest, jog from one station to the next.
im not sayn' the 300 test is easy (i've never tried it) but its not inconceivable to do it two or three times per week.
BUT whoeva mentioned changing up ur workout.. ur right on the money, "tricking" ur body by doing a different routine every so often makes it work harder and as a result u become stronger :-D

The daily workouts are under "schedule" at the top of the Gym Jones home page. I have a ton of other ones written down in my notebook. Let me know if you need some more ideas.
Peace
p.s. repped back

It's amazing for cardio dude, especially if you push the pace. Don't totally neglect weights though, as they're still your best bet for gaining pure strength. But if you wanna get your wind or your muscle endurance up, it'll definately help. Don't forget to mix it up though, like I said before; doing the same workout over and over will only get you better at that workout. Variation is key.
Good luck with Rugby man, I hope this helps =)
