Bodybuilding or Figure??
I need help!
I have decided I want to start my path to competition but I am not sure which way I should go. How do I decide which avenue...Bodybuilding or Figure? I am 5'1" and currently overweight (150lbs). To make it in the figure world, do you need to have a large chest? There is no way I would ever get implants so would it be better to enter a bodybuilding competition or does it really matter? The thought of looking pretty on stage is appealing (hair, nails, makeup) but on the other hand, bodybuilding competitions are more entertaining to watch.
Any advice would be helpful. I am going to hire a trainer but I want more opinions.
Thanks!!!

Lo, you don't need implants if you don't want them. They are no less common in BB than in Figure, though. Follow your heart and compete in the field that you think would make you happier. Attend as many shows as possible and see what calls to you more.

I was wondering this too but if you want to be natural then that means everything natural goes.
I have a very small chest but Im not too bothered about them. I want to do figure but it doesnt mean I need a large chest to compete.
All the best whichever path you take.

There are far less girls doing bodybuilding than figure. In bodybuilding, thickness is better, whereas in figure, it has to be all complimentary. I did bodybuilding because there is a chance to do poses that really show off your hard work: most muscular, double bi, lat spread, etc. However, during my last comp, even though my posing was better, I ended up loosing to the big girl. That's the catch with being natural, there is only so big one can go, especially if the genetics give you a smaller frame.

Thats one of the reasons why I would opt for Bodybuilding because like you say you can show off all your hard work.
Its a sad world when you got to have cosmetic surgery to enhance something thats going to get you first place. God blessed me with small boobs so Im happy. I would be scared of my plastic boobs puncturing if I had them. That wouldnt be a pretty site would it.

I don't have implants and I've done bb and figure. I've done well in both and implants don't make a difference
Good luck!!

We have a division called Muscle Model, which is not as cut and big as a bodybuilder, but bigger than a fitness model ... that might work for you!

Wouldn't Figure fit that category - 'not as cut and big as a bodybuilder, but bigger than a fitness model'

Thanks!
Thanks for the advice. It is good to know that it hasn't been an issue for some people. I'm still not sure which way I want to go yet. I have a small frame but I build muscle pretty well. Maybe I will try Figure one season and BodyBuilding the next to see which I like better.
And I agree with the above statement, sure sounds a lot like Figure to me..
