    Failure Reps

Wondering if any of you ever go till failure on your last set of your compound lifts like bench, squats, cleans, deads. Since you gain strength when you go past your bodys limits, it would be beneficial to go to beyond what you can lift. Just wondering how many people actually do this or just rack the weight when they hit the magic number.

I will everyonce in a while on Bench- Not usually on Cleans however, cause with my luck I'd lose form, wobble side to side and collapse over backwards while the weight comes crashing down to rest on my clavicle. No Spotters FTW!

But it really all depends on how I feel...I think I might get advernterous tomorrow and go until failure on cleans

I absolutely go beyond failure, pretty much every workout. The perks of having a spotter. I don't do it every lift, but on my compound lifts, which I more often then not pyramid up, I go to failure and beyond. Love it. It's intense... and better yet, I've gotten results that way.

I never went to failure intentionally for the past 4 years of my training. I used to when I first started training but never got any benefits from going to failure and I think that it worsened my recovery. I don't take it easy either and I lift when I think it is a rep or 2 before failure.

now that i have a good workout partner we do go to failure. usually its not intentionally though. sometimes when we up the weight the last reps on the last set is where it happens. feels good when next week we get it.

I typically dont go to failure on the workouts like deadlift and squat. Primarily due to the fact that faultering technique can result in some serious injury.

I go to failure on every set.

The last rep I do, is the last one I could do, some with better form than others. Like on Cleans, if I did another rep I wouldn't be able to flip it over and get under it (or I don't, and I have to set it down and rest a bit and try again).

Deads, I'll tend to stop when my form is shot.

Squats.. well I can tell when I won't be able to get another. Same with bench.

Rows or pull ups, it is when I can't complete the full ROM while using at least mediocre form.

However my methods are hard on the CNS, and rest days are essential, and skipped workouts happen now and then.
