I would suggest dead lifts and barbell rows. But it's important to realize your middle back won't get huge overnight. It takes time to build up the strength. Make sure your form is perfect if you really want to see results.

seated rows are also a good choice for the middle back

    Wink

You are 13 years old. Unfortunately your body is not yet primed hormonally to pack on muscle mass. Be PATIENT though it will come in time. In the mean time stick to learning how to lift with proper technique.

IMO you should find or hire someone to teach you how to perform Olympic style lifting & it's variations. This way you will prime your nervous system to be ready for the hormones to kick in. Then when they do kick in you will get your most "Bang for your Buck".

Along with olympic lifts stick to basic compound lifts( not max loads at your age though).

Bench press, incline bench, (& DB's as well), Dips, Pull ups & chin ups, squats, front squats, deadlifts, rowing movements, military press, etc...

At your age you will experience strength gains without an increase in muscle mass due to the fact that your Nervous system is becoming more efficient( that is a good thing)

Once again be PATIENT. This is an ongoing endevour . As Scott Abel says: " Consistency of Effort is EVERYTHING"

    Enjoy the ride!
