Ran my 1st 5K
I just finished my 1st race for Autism Speaks. It was great! I'm down to 234 from 329 back in Feb. I finished in 29:35, which was better than my goal of 30min. Has anyone else run in a race after losing substantial weight?

congrats
I've run 2 5ks, 3 10ks and a half-marathon (21ks) in the last year and a half. I was 290lbs+ and with the weight training and running have steadily gone down. As of this morning I'm 211lbs and on days when I do my long runs I've seen as little as 207, but that's just water (it's really humid here)

i'm working on it. I used to be in decent shape, but with this weight and age gain, its become extremely hard and painful to run. So i'm trying to drop a few lbs before i really hit the pavement hard. Even at 220 lbs i ran a 26 mins. i'd like to atleast get back there. But first goal for me is just to jog non stop for 30 mins.
Congrats, whats your next goal? <25 mins??

Great job, I know you feel great for doing that and you should!! Awesome work.
Any plans for a 10k in the future? I hope so.

I really want to get to sub 25 min. I would also like to work my way up to 10k or half marathon. Thanks for the feedback.

Awesome, I ran one two weeks ago after hitting the 50lbs lost mark and came in at 26:40 and placed 149 out of 300. I don't recall seeing anyone near my size so I was pretty happy with the results.

Samsont. Best place that I've found is active.com
Just go to the "Runners" portion of the site and type in your city and state to look for the events.

Me and Mrs. Brain have been doing couch-2-5k for 4 months, and did our first 5k a week ago. I can't imagine having run 3 miles when I weighed 272#.
