Hey Dana, I actually took the same dosage for 10 days for secondary amenorrhea as well. I wasn't a huge fan of it because I felt more bloated while on it. But then I switched doctors and the new doc ran some tests -- turns out that my body wasn't producing enough estrogen, which prometrium doesn't do anything for. Without estrogen the lining of the uterus doesn't build up, hence there is nothing to slough off every month. The tests showed that my lining was very thin, so the prometrium, which is a form of progesterone, didn't help. My first doctor was fixated on having me "bleed" because she said it wasn't good to not have a period for 3 months or more. I like my new doctor a lot more, she explained to me that in essence there is nothing for my uterus to shed, so she put me on birth control instead to fix the problem. I'm not sure how long you've had amenorrhea but you also want to be aware of the increased risk for osteoporosis/osteopenia. Hope this helps!
