Where My Toning Ladies At?!
Are there any ladies out there who prefer a light tone vs. bodybuilding? If so, what is your routine and diet? I've decided that this is the best option for me (no offense to those who are pursing bodybuilding and/or comp preps) as getting ripped is not working for me. I like my curves and want to keep them. So to my toning ladies, if you are out there, speak up!! lol

The difference between being what you called ripped vs nice tone with some definition is your diet...you don't have to be as strict

This is the path that I've decided to take for Myself. I am just looking for like minded people. I don't feel a need to move over to Ivillage as I've found a wealth of knowledge right here on Bodyspace and will continue to. I know that toning involves gaining some muscles but as I said earlier, getting ripped is not for me. I have no interest in competitions but just want to look good and live healthy just like the rest. So again, I am looking for like minded people with similar goals.

For the most part, I've found that keeping a more curvy figure comes down to doing the exact same thing as bodybuilding girls, without the same level of dedication! Currently I try to eat as well as the ripped girls on here, but never manage to do it perfectly, and lift heavy and hard but I'm still too darn squishy. Really, toning vs bbing is mostly a difference in body fat levels. If you keep your body fat a little higher, you'll have a softer look, if lower, a more lean ripped look.
So I get what you're saying, but I don't think it takes a totally different approach. Best of luck!

You can definitely still keep your curves - go for fullbody workouts and do high reps 15 - 20

There are some great articles and workout plans on www.figureathlete.com for women looking for the "red carpet ready" look (Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel) as opposed to a more muscular, cut physique.

OP - the difference between 'toned' and 'bodybuilding' is primarily diet, as was said earlier. You can't 'tone' a muscle, same as you can't 'shape' a muscle - you can either build more muscle, lose fat around the muscle you have or strengthen the muscle (or a combo of the above).
When it comes to training, no matter how it's packaged, there really aren't that many different ways to train. The difference is that if you don't want to get super lean and ripped, you eat at maintenance - I'm sure you've figured out how much you can eat and look the way you want to look (you may have to increase that a little if you start training a lot) so as long as you eat within those parameters you'll be fine.

I have the same goal as you. I'm not sure if my age would make it awkward or not though. Honestly though, I really have no motivation without someone to support me. Which I guess my family does, but they're all very thin and toned already and don't have to work for how they look. I'm the only voluptuous one in the house.
I haven't posted any pictures yet but plan to relatively soon.

I started out feeling just like you. But it takes ALOT of hard work and discipline to get that ripped, shredded look and the curves don't just disappear that quickly. For me, tho, I just got hooked on BB. I notice MsFit doesn't even do any cardio and she's just plain HOT. I pretty much stopped the cardio because I've found I achieve desired results much quicker from lifting. At this point, I'd say I am just 'toned'. LOL But, at my age, I'll take what I can get and be grateful.

Thank you so much for the support! This website has done wonders for me. Just watching so many achieve their goals, whatever it may have been was enough to get and keep me motivated. I wish you luck!

Quela,
I was on the figureathlete website and ran across the Hollywood Babe Action program and thought of you right away. It was created by Valerie Waters who designed the Red Carpet one. I've been wanting to buy her Valslides for awhile.
At any rate this program looks like it would be a really good workout. I wanna try it.

I'm the same way. I have to change my routine every 4 weeks or so.
After my post, I later ran across the same routine on her blog and it has more pics of what the exercises actually look like. Until I ran across this link I was having a hard time picturing a ValSlide mountain climber on a medicine ball.
