OK -
So traditionally, I've always 'fueled up' with some carbs about 1 hr to 1 1/2 hrs before hitting the gym - is that enough time? I eat well everyday but I add that bit extra (a bowel of pasta or something) on gym days -
I'd welcome your thoughts!

Personally i like to eat like 15-30 minutes before the gym or else i don't feel like i have any energy from the food i ate

Wow, if I did this, that meal would be spread out all over the gym floor, lol. I usually eat 1 hour before leaving for a workout. It's just one of my normal meals with a few extra carbs in em, like 1.5 cups oats instead of 1. The gym is 15 mins away, then I strech and warm up, so it ends up about 1.5 hours usually.

One hour before, works best for me, I get home from work, fix dinner, then wait at least a hour before heading to the gym. Digestion takes up so much blood, in fact I think it is the single largest process of the body the requires the most blood. So as we all know you need that blood flow to train at your peak. It also depends on what you are eating as well, and how fast those ingredients get digested

if im lifting, a little under 1 cup oats 1-1.5 hrs before. if playing sports, 1-1.5 cups same time before. I dont feel energetic enough unless i wait, but im gonna start lifting early so ill experiment soon with other carbs that i can put down like 15-30 minutes before.
