    Chicken BREAST vs. Chicken THIGH

    Is there really much difference?

    I'm curious - because where I live.. chicken breast costs a bit more than the thigh but do they both offer the same protein amounts etc?

    Or is the breast really a lot more beneficial than the thigh?

    look at the nutrition labels. chicken breast is almost fat free(minus skin of course), thighs have quite a bit.

    thighs are a bit cheaper and sure as **** taste better(and cook better), but if you're trying to control calories breasts make it much easier.

    I had the same question, but my trainer put it to me simply. When your cutting up, don't even try to cheat the system, go with the chicken breast. When you start bulking up, then you can go with the thighs if you want. Every little bit counts when you're talking sub 10% bodyfat.

    how on earth is eating better tasting, cheaper and equally good food cheating the system? all it means is you dont have to add as much of your own fat, you get more delicious chicken and you pay less money

    Id say carb intake is a bigger issue as opposed to a few grams of fat, when either bulking or cutting. They both have their place and use both for variety sake.

    I prefer the taste of the chicken breast, so I eat that predominantly. Either is fine.

    Although chicken breasts are superior to chicken thighs for cutting, eating a low fat diet indefinitely is unsustainable. You need a healthy amount of fat to function. Anyone who tries to eat something like chicken breasts and spinach indefinitely will inevitability end up cheating with foods far inferior to chicken thighs. However, eating a diet of primarily chicken thighs will give you too much fat. Best bet is to mix breasts and thighs for a sustainable mix.

    People often stumble upon threads via Google and read them even if they don't belong to the site. It's never wrong or bad to add something of value to an old thread. I disagree that people do not use chicken as their primary source of fat. The reality is that many people do, for months at a time.
