I have a friend who has massive veins on his forarms. I think its very cool. Heard rumors he did steroids. Do they steroids make the veins. Or the constant working out?
Thanks in advance.

Who said my name?
lol, Vaines can come from just plain working out. It also matters on genetics as well.
Steroids, I don't have a clue, since I never used them."I Am a God in Amnesia....and Im Just Finally Starting To Remember" the great Sam Rattan, December 21,2012

Im not 100 percent sure.. But I do believe steroids make the viens more noticable. Because steroids makes the blood flow faster, making the viens fill up and stick out. Also since blood is like food for muscle I think that is what cause's major gains while taking steroids.. the blood flow. And also genetic's plays a HUGE part in it aswell.

Steroids will make your veins more prominent and wider.
When you have low bodyfat %, more veins will come out. When you add more muscle, more veins will come out. Some people are just naturally not veiny though."Don't give up, your too strong"-Earl Simmons

ya usually when u have low body fat and also when u are lifting fairly heavy i was doing tricep overhead extensions and my friend looked at a vein in my forearm bustin out and was like damn thats huge. too bad they dont stay like that all the time lol. to get ur forearms pumped quick for whatever reason i use a lil hand grip squeeze foam crap that u use for relaxin but if u pump it fast it will bust out ur viens also

I have no clue about the steroids bit, but I do believe that a lot is genetic, because I have and always have had (like even before lifting) veins down my forearms and bi's even when I put on the fat during bulking. I have a big vein going down my calves and veins down my legs too now, I think its genetics, because I am not a monster (yet...). I *think* I read that proper hydration can bring out veins too.

when ur working out the blood is rushing round the body, so when u just stop the blood pools and this is the main cause for the veins poping out, u can reduce this by sticking a cool down on the end of ur work out, just get on the tredmill for 3/4 mins and walk it off, i do it by joggin back from the gym
i dont think veins look all the good, apart from the one down ur arm on ur bicep

It has to be mostly genetics because i have a friend who has never lifted a weight in his life and his forearms and biceps are full of HUGE poking out veins all over, HE HATES IT! i told him that he better not lift weights because if he does than his veins will get to big and explode, HAHA, i think he believed me too.....
BTW, brock lesnar is a huge roid freak and he barely has any veins besides a small one in his bicep and a small one in his shoulder while he is pumped. so i think it is mostly genetics.Holla if ya hear me

Absolutely purely genetic.
The veins are an interesting part of the Vasular system, because it is not nearly as definative as the location of arteries.
In general the position and existance of arteries is fairly consistant amongst populations, given racial and genetic variation of cause. However, veins can vary considerably more in their location within a population.
As a general rule (although not gospel) there is approximately 3 veins supporting and accompanying each artery. Hence it is a more prominant system, and why we notice them much more.
Generally, the 'medium sized veins' (veins and arteries are classified on their size, and differentiated by muscular and elastic properties) are the ones noticable under the skin.
They mainly, although not exclusively, become more prominant due to 2 reasons.
1 - Decrease in hypodermal body fat: Think of the analogy of 6 thick bed covers overlying your legs in bed. As you remove them, your legs shape become more prominant, like wise with veins. Since the medium sized veins lie primarily in the deep Fasica.
2 - Increase in hydration. Drinking lots of fluid with also increase the prominance of your veins. If you have ever donated blood before, the nurses will instruct you to consume a lot of fluid prior to donation. Making your veins more prominant, easier to locate, and increasing circulation.
Hope i have helped, or maybe just given a little more background info.
Cheers.Cheers, From Syd

there's that famous picture all over these boards of Rich Gaspari doing a most muscular and is like the most vascular picture out there, also the steroid Winstrol or "winny-v" is said to make you more vascular.

Niacin
Someone once told me that if you take Niacin tablets, that will make your veins pop out. It didn't really seem to work for me. I also knew two bodybuilders a number of years ago. The one bodybuilder had veins popping out all over while the other bodybuilder had no veins popping out. Both of them were about equal in size and definition. I do believe it is a combination of low bodyfat and genetics.
Now that good weather is close at hand, start checking out guys wearing short sleeve shirts. You will notice skinny scrawny guys who have incredibly vascular forearms. It isn't just because they workout or hit heavy weights. To be honest with you, I do not think there is any one thing a person can do to get vascular forearms. I agree with you, I think they are cool and I love seeing them on guys at the gym. Sorry, I know that sounds bad but I sure can not look at them on my forearms. To see nice vascular forearms, I need to look at teh forearms of other guys. I have tried hard for 3 years now to get my veins to pop out of my forearms with very little success. In my case, I think it is mostly poor genetics.
