what is hell?

id like to have more info. do only non believers go to hell? how long does one stay in hell?(is all punishment eternal?) does everyone that goes to hell get the same punishment? for instance a non-believer that spent his whole life donating to charity, helping people,and just being an all around good person get the same punishment as a non believer who is a career criminal?

IMO they screwed the whole thing up. "Heaven" and "Hell" exist within you, they refer to states of mind. One of anxiety, fear, and self doubt/loathing. Another of calmness, clairity, happyness, and peace of mind. How you get to these states has very much to do with your actions, religion (in a pure form, not tainted with the strife for power) attempts to guide you to the appropriate paths via story telling, analogy and metaphore, but is not really necessary.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

The BIble teaches that those without Jesus will persish in hell, yes. How long does none stay there? Well, the Bible teaches it is an everlasting torment, meaning one never gets out. Yes, Hell is Hell. everyone will be in the same lake of fire.

What I was saying is he was trying to compare what he has come to find out in life and compare it to what hell will be like. That is not possible considering all the info given about it in the Bible.

How can the anyone know what Hell is like if they haven't been there. That includes the writers of the bible, God & Jesus. Are you saying one of them actually stuck there head in the door and had a good look around ?.

Lets be honest, anything/anyone that tries to describe Hell is making it up and pulling there theory's out of thin air.

I guess I'm being arrogant but I just find it utterly amazing that people believe some of the stories in the bible. It brings a smile to my face every time

Allow me to tell you a little story. God created Hell for the Devil and his followers. Since he created it, he must know all about it. When Jesus was crucified and resurrected he went into the bowels of hell and freed the captives. So God created it, and Jesus visited their for a short time to free the captives.

The Devil had it made in Heaven, he chose his own path and God has always been about free-will. The Bible is ful of truth, one jsut has to seek it.
