free form Leucine or BCAAs

Which do you think is more effective and optimal: free form Leucine by itself or the BCAA combination of Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine? Does Leucine need Isoleucine and Valine in order to acheive its full anabolic/anti-catabolic effects?

If it makes a difference I am reffering to Leucine or BCAA free form supplementation in between meals and post-workout.

You do not want to take free form leucine due to branched chain ketoacid dehydrogenase (BCKD) activity. It can created a potential imbalance of the other two BCAAs. Besides...iso and val have some nice properties of their own.

BCAAs > Leu

leucine needs the other aa's in order to increase protein synthesis. I prefer eaa's as they include the bcaa's anyhow.

I really like all-in-one carb free by ergo. its being discontinued, but you can still find it. Next I'll be getting vassive-ce by ON or Supplement Direct's new eaa product.

Good point as well.

Take Eaa's between meals and BCAA's during workout. BCAA's are highly oxidized during exercise so they're the most important to take during, not to mention they will help inhibit the ub-proteasome pathway during exercise.

This is the protocol I have been following:

Meal 1 with BCAAs

in between Meal 1 and 2: 2 grams Leucine

Meal 2

in between Meal 2 and 3: 2 grams Leucine

Meal 3

in between Meal 3 and 4: 2 grams Leucine

Meal 4 (pre-workout)

during workout: BCAAs + Beta-Alanine

Meal 5 (post-workout) + 4 grams Leucine + BCAAs from Whey

Meal 6

in between Meal 6 and Meal 1 of the next day sip on BCAAs at night and when wake up to go to bathroom

Am I getting enough BCAAs throughout the day to offset the extra 10 grams I take during the day?

you need to take the other bcaa's along with the leucine.
