I've been vegetarian for..12 years now (yep, I was 6 when I started). It becomes second nature after a while.
I was also a vegan for a few months, but it wouldn't go well with my future career plans. And I didn't feel as strongly about cutting out eggs/dairy as much as I did meat. I admire you a lot for wanting to do it though.
I have never been a fan of soy protein powders. I've tried many different varieties, and never found one I liked. I tried hemp protein once too, but never again

However, if you don't want to use whey protein, I'd recommend going to someplace like Whole Foods and checking out their soy protein powders - you can usually just buy one packet at a time, so you can see if you like it before spending a bunch of money. Hopefully you'll be better with them than I was.
There is a vegetarian/vegan bodybuilder's Q&A thread in the regular Nutrition section, I'd recommend that you check it out. There's a lot of good advice in there.
Finding recipes isn't nearly as hard as you'd think. There are so many meat substitutes out there, with a little creativity, you can easily tweak the same recipes you loved before giving up meat.
Also, I'd recommend starting off very slowly. Whenever you feel ready to cut out dairy and eggs, do only one first. For an easy transition, you could try eliminating eating the whole products themselves, before eliminating things that have them as a mixed in ingredient (for example, cookies with eggs).
Best of luck to you!
