Hey Mixelflick, have you noticed that there seems to be 2 different spirostanes that are being used. In SSE's product there is 25R-Spirost-4-ene-3,6-diol.In ****'s product he has the 25R-4-Spirosten-3b,6b-diol(I'm guessing the same as SSE's)and 25R-5-Alpha-Spirostan-6-one-3b-ol.He claims they have different properties.Also,Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals has been selling for years before these compounds got popular again 25R Spirostan-5A-Diol-6-one-3-one(I'm guessing this is the last compound in ****'s product).Which compound has the purported 33:1 anabolic/androgenic ratio?

Honestly, no. I've spent so much time looking at full spectrum Lueza lately its escaped me. I do find 6-keto diosgenin intriguing, but struggle with not knowing just how effective it is. What's needed is for someone to run it standalone, but there is no 6-keto only product I'm aware of. Perhaps one is in order.

Thanks my friend.
Theromlife insists that our Spirostane is the correct natural 6-keto derivative sapogenin that is cited in the studies. http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/su...omnibolic.htmlLast edited by SupremeSE; 07-07-2008 at 11:40 PM.

i realize i'm about 4 years late, but i was searching for some info and ran across this forum..... i'm a little confused by this:
"Uses special extraction methods, and through a process of fermentation, diosgenin is converted to 6-KETO diosgenin which is far superior clinically and can effectively be used by the body as a precursor to other important hormones.
6-KETO diosgenin is a natural derivative of a class of compounds called sapogenins. Similar to ecdysterone, sapogenins are plant sterols (plant hormones) which among exhibiting many other positive health benefits, show potent anabolic properties and have no negative side effects. 6-KETO diosgenin has been shown in rats to have very prominent anabolic effects with no change in testicular or prostate weight and no changes in genitalia (and no androgenic effects). The increased anabolism and growth in subjects receiving 6-keto diosgenin was almost 2 times as high as the control group, yielding astounding anabolic potential. The findings in the above study, combined with the overwhelming positive anecdotal feedback however are extremely promising. Its addition to it plays a key role in its amazing synergistic effects and takes its anabolic growth potentials to the next level."
no one else seemed to mention this, but this clearly states that it is a precursor to other hormones but has no side effects, no change in testicular weight, etc.... does it act like a prohormone? i would assume it has a completely different mechanism of action, but i cant seem to find that info

I'd be curious to know what they're basing this "precursor" claim on. To my knowledge, no data exists supporting such. The sapogenin analogs studied (there were 4), displayed no androgenic/receptor binding properties. There exists the possibility their metabolites do, by Dr. Syrov's papers speak nothing about this. What they do support is that of the analogs studied, compound 4 displayed the most potential.
It's worth noting that as analogs of Ecdy, they're assumed to work via the same MOA: Namely, via the PI3K/AKT pathway. Research done at Rutgers seems to have confirmed this.(1) From the abstract, "In skeletal muscle cells, phytoecdysteroids increase protein synthesis. In this study we show that in a mouse skeletal muscle cell line, C(2)C(12), 20-hydroxyecdysone (20HE), a common phytoecdysteroid in both insects and plants, elicited a rapid elevation in intracellular calcium, followed by sustained Akt activation and increased protein synthesis. The effect was inhibited by a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) inhibitor, a phospholipase C (PLC) inhibitor, and a phosphoinositide kinase-3 (PI3K) inhibitor...".
Would explain the broad range of beneficial effects Ecdy exerts, given it's a cascade mechanism. The real value of 6-keto lies in the fact it may convey these benefits at a much lower dosing threshold (10-30mg/day, cited in Syrov's paper).
BOTTOM LINE: Some people like it, some don't. I only wish a reliable standalone was available such that we could better evaluate.
