What do most of you think is the best amount of time before a workout(weights) to have a whole food meal?

Yeah I was thinking along the lines of 60 minutes. I figured if I had some meat and a sweet potato that it would take at least that long before the carbs and amino acids were flowing through the blood. I'm just so used to having a quick digesting shake 20-30 minutes before working out I wasn't sure how long to give whole foods to digest.

Fruit and whey wouldn't count as a whole food meal. Since that combination would digest much quicker you could have that much closer to the workout. That's basically what I used to have about 30 minutes pre workout and it always worked out great. I've recently decided to switch to using whole food meals for pre workout but I wasn't sure how much more time a whole meal needed to be consumed before a workout compared to a shake.
