Bodybuilding has changed a great deal over the years. The pre-steroid era, the 'Glory Days' of the 70s, and when it morphed into the bulky look with Dorian Yates, who I suppose started that trend in a way.
It has gone to another level with Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler. The champions from the other eras dislike the 'oversized' look of the recent Mr Olympia champions, and every time that I have interviewed one of them, it has come up. Lee Haney, Frank Zane and Robby Robinson all were consistent with that, and a 'blown out stomach' was specifically mentioned.
Personally, I would rather see a more symmetrical look, especially on the person who takes the Sandow. The judges have changed as much as the contenders, so I suppose that we will have to wait for the next 'wave' to find out what is next.

rons gut was putrid in 2004 - a year later in 2005 it was much smaller.....
jays waist started to resemble a maytag in 04, has it gotten smaller? no.
so what is your logic in saying that? jay waist has only gotten bigger and bigger... ronnies got big then he did something(what ever that something was) and got it much smaller.

The GH Gut is why most bodybuilders won't go main stream. I don't care if they have the "AA" look or not. Society as a whole consider a small waistline with hard abs to be the ideal look. No matter how blonde and blue eyed Jay is that waistline of his is NOT marketable.
