I am a straight guy, happily married for 37 years. But I deeply resent and regret that our society frowns on male intimacy. Not talking about sex. Talking about men loving each other and showing that love. It is acceptable in other countries (Asia, India, etc) but not here in America. When I was younger men would place their arms around one another's necks as they walked side-by-side. Or place their hand on their bud's shoulder and talk. Good friends would meet each other and give each other a big manly hug. Under some circumstances a man may even cry on the shoulder of his best bud. To be honest, it felt good...manly...right. It contributed to male-male bonding. Guys would go skinnydipping when it was hot while out on a secluded lake while fishing. No one thought anything about it. All this was just considered a "guy thing." But these things are rare today. Sociologists say American men are increasingly isolated. That is just crap.
I still greet my best buds with a bear hug and a pat on the shoulders. Society can kiss my butt if they don't like it.
Anyone else resent this societal change? Any insights.
