Question Scars in competition

Hi, I'm actually considering entering a fitness competition next year. I know I have a lot of weight to lose still, but I feel like I'm doing great in building muscle and strength. But I have a problem - I have a scar from a childhood injury and want to know if, and how much, it might hurt my scores.

I've attached a couple photos.

Also, it seems to stand out more the lower my bodyfat is, so it might look worse at a competition.

Any help, or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Scars

Congratulations on making the decision to compete!
And of course your scars will not affect your scores! It is a physique competition and we are judging you on your overall symmetry, physique, stage presence, and presentation!

Great Thread

Singer, that was a great question! I am also looking forward to competing and from having children I have a few stretch marks not too many but I notice them and also thought that they might affect scores.

My husband (hpsm1958) and I went to the Oregon Bodybuilding Championships in Portland to see our first competition. We were there to learn as much as we could and see what it's like. I saw a few ladies that had stretch marks in the restroom, but once they put make-up over it and got onstage under all those lights you could not see them at all. So, I wouldn't worry about it.

I worry more about my scar now than I did before I went, though. There's no way for me to hide the fact that the muscle is twisted under the skin. I'm just hoping that when they see the normal side they will realize that it's a scar and not poor muscle development.

Thumbs up

Go for it! Competing is a personal goal no matter how you place. There is a chance that when you get lean for the show, the leg will look more smooth and the scar won't be as visible....GOOD LUCK! Let us know how things go!

Competing is about presenting the best possible package with the cards that you are delt. If you put in all the hard work and know that you did your best that is all you can ask for. Dont worry about the scar. Enjoy the journey to the stage

No worries.. remember all of those coats of color will cover up quite a bit and all of those lights makes any blemishes or scars difficult to see.

Scars are fine; this woman won the Masters A Class and got 2nd in Open A at the North Americans. You physique will overpower small flaws if you come in right!
