Is this the first month your trying to get into shape?
What is your diet like?
Looks like you have made some good headway but I am wondering is something is holding you back or slowing you down?

It shouldn't be water weight if his body fat% was accurate.

Wow, a whole point down in the BF percentage, thats huge man, keep up the good work! Thats what you need to concentrate on is the BF%, who cares about the weight because your body composition is going to change and adjust while dieting and lifting!
Great job man, keep it up!

I don't think it's only water because as you can notice I dropped over 1% of BF.
Also, I did not deprive myself from either water or food. I've been eating a decent amount of different foods and drinking lots of water.

If you are working out along with your cardio your gaining muscle which might raise some ??? on the scale. Just stick with it and you'll do great.

Just eat what you know is healthy and the amount your body tells you it needs, and exercise. You'll get results, you shouldn't care about how fast or whatever. You have the rest of your life ahead of you. You're doing it for yourself as well, always keep that in mind.
I wish I had followed my own advice when I first started though... Maybe I wouldn't be stressed out about how I'll eat tomorrow or in the future... Damn ED's.

Ditto -- great job, cutting the fat is what's important! You're moving in the right direction, keep it up...as you get into better shape, you'll be able to up the intensity of your workouts and the fat will drop even quicker!

I was thinking since I have plenty of fat in my body, I would focus more on cardio instead of lifting?
What do you guys think?

Great job, you could probably try speed it up a bit more by cutting some calories or getting more active, but not too much more. You've actually probably lost more than you think, when you start getting active you can hold a couple pounds of extra muscle glycogen.
Lifting burns more fat over 24 hours than cardio. Lifting is definitely more beneficial to you right now.

Agree with the above. Intense lifting (3*45min a week sessions) did more than 5-6 days of intense cardio (20-30mins a time.) Combining the two with a good balanced diet will net you good results. You should, at this stage, be able to achieve 0.5-1% body fat loss per week.

Its progress. You could probably lose more than that though, especially at that weight early on.
Given the large waist line, I'd want to drop it off a tad quicker due to the health issues.
Lift weights 3 times a week for 30-45mins.
Do some cardio 3-5 times, even if its just brisk walking. If you can, jog a few sessions. 40-45mins is good.
At your weight and composition levels its not a major issue having that kind of volume to knock off some calories.

I am slightly confused.
Usually, when I start a strict diet, I would lose more weight than 4lbs in a month. But I have never measured my BF back then to see if I am losing actual fat or not.
My question is: is the 1% BF drop per month relavent to 4 lbs? Does it mean I am gaining muscles or does it mean I am slowly losing fat? because I think I should have lost more than 4 lbs/month.

Logging some stats of you bodyfat compared to weight and doing comparrisions later on will answer that.

One month passed and the July results are in!
They are not as better as the June results, but hey, at least I dropped, even though a little...
Also, the nutrionist was telling me today that my body is genetically predispositioned to have a good amount of muscles because Even though my BF% is dropping, my BMI is dropping but slower. I do not know if this is normal, but she attributed this factor to my muscle workout.
So, to make this short:
June 22nd, I was:
Weight: was: 247 lbs now: 243
BMI: was 37.6% now: 36.9%
BF: was 29.6% now: 28.2%
Waist: was 46.5 now: 46
July 23rd I am:
Weight: 240lbs
Waist: 45.5
BF: 27.6%
BMI: 36.5

You could make it faster by cutting cals by around 500 a day. It all depends on what works for you though. If you don't mind the slowness (slow and steady wins the race!), then keep things going. Personally, I am for 1.5-2 pounds of fat loss a week... but let me tell you it takes a toll on my body functions.

Yup any loss is good, but if you want honesty I think you can do better and your at the right place...a lot of information can be obtained from the people here. Post your diet and exercise and I'm sure you will get some good advice.

The slow progress, I think, is attributed to the lack fo gym workouts. I haven't been going a lot to the gym because I have no motivaction (friends are all on vacation). So I am hoping when they're back I can visit the gym more regular than now.
