Softball players...can anyone help?
I was wondering if any fellow softball players know the rules when it comes to illegally wrapped bats. We aren't allowed to play with certain bats(ASA Illegal bats), but of course the ol' rule of "If you aren't cheatin you aren't trying" always comes into play with teams who wrap their illegal bats. Now, to anyone who's played for a few years, it is beyond obvious when a team is using an illegal bat. What can be done if anything? Can you take it from them and have it inspected maybe? Just gets old, if you need a juiced bat to hit it hard or hit home runs then go play f**king t-ball!!

Yes, unfortunately there are d-bags that can't hit with a regular bat, so they have to shave or roll their bats. Not sure what you mean be "wrapped"? I've seen fake stickers that people will put on bats.....
As far as what you can do, not much. First, I'd ask the ump to check it. After that, there's not much you can do if it isn't totally obvious.
This is good to have on hand; the ASA Non-Approved list: http://www.rockytourneys.com/index.p...45.0;attach=17

All you can do is tell the Ump you want their equipment inspected.

I play on a USSSA Travel team (won 3 NIT's this year so far) and we are ranked #1 in the Northeast.
We play against guys with shaved, altered bats all the time. Its a joke. The bats are so sick now a days, who needs to cheat.
I got a 2008 Synergy Plus BH for free from our sponsor...sickkkk!
ASA sucks cuz the high arc and sh!tty bats, plus wayyy more illegal bats.

Well, what makes it worse is that this league's fences are only like 270 feet!!! I mean, are you f**king kidding me?!! And yes, wrapped means they have what I believe to be an Ultra 2 wrapped to look like an ASA approved bat. I have asked around and it appears as though the best and only course to take is to call for a captains meeting and bring it up. After calling around it seems as though EVERY team playing them has figured it out(although it's NOT that hard, trust me!!). I definately like USSSA better, but around here we have to travel quite a ways to play in them and it seems as though our team really doesn't want to with the gas prices and such...which I don't blame them.

270 with unlimited HR's??? you serious??? you would have like 70 hrs a game. I played on 315 fields last weekend and balls were flying out left and right.
Is this league play by the way? If someone is using a painted Ultra in League Play, that is just ludicrous! You could kill someone. Some idiots use it in tournaments, but at least 95% of tournament players are good, league players just suck.

Yeah, it's league play. And the MAIN reason this league is the most popular with the most teams is because of the p*ssy fences!! I have tried and tried to get them to use wooden bats even and of course noone wants to do that. The team that uses it won't even show up in the other two towns that have leagues because the fields are 300 feet. And YES, with some of the players in that league you could definately hurt or kill someone...which is why it pisses me off!!! But all in all, I'd say around 9 of the 12 teams are good, and this team doesn't need to cheat either which makes it worse. They have PLENTY of good players.
*I just found out that the rumor is they might also be wrapping the 50 core balls with the 44 core covers...which makes sense being's how a home run they hit the other night hit off the scoreboard and bounced on the pavement below and actually bounced over the fence which is around 8 feet. That **** ain't happening with a 44 core ball that's WET!!!

There are TONS of Ultra's out there on the playing field as we speak. I've traveled for some time playing 'A'-'C' and there are a copious amount of illegal bats out there. That being said, I know my team has them as well. Not much you can do. Umpires don't know **** and the directors are ever so clueless, they just want the $$$.

When someone is swinging an Orange (asa) Crush in USSSA tourney where you can use Synergy Plus and plenty of other sick bats, you know something is up, lol.

Yea...I remember back in the day when the Ultra II just got banned and the Freak was out, some snapperhead playing for Coors Light 'C' in NJ was swinging a Miken Viper. I was like Geez, this team is legit and they're playing with a first generation Miken bat. Oddly, the bat was used by more than one player

We played a USSSA 'c' last month in Connecticut and one team kept using the Synergy Flex (2007 blue) bat and each player would pick it up and use it again. Odd that no one was swinging the syn + or helmer edition right? it sounded like a gunshot every time they hit it.....
