    ISS Pro42 bars for breakfast

    I don't have much time in the morning before work and have a lot of trouble sleeping (so I don't want to get up even earlier). Is one of these bars (http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/iss/pro42.html) a relatively good breakfast? If it isn't, what would be good to eat along side it to round it out?

    I was thinking that and a glass of whole milk would be quick and pretty nutritional. I'm trying to clean bulk.

    Won't lie - it's not great for you. Pro42 is not one of the greatest profiles out there, in fact it's often more described as a high-protein candy bar . If you've already gotten Pro42 you might as well use it - some calories are better than no calories, but your term 'clean bulk' is about to be erased.

    If you're really trying to do the 'clean bulking' you'll be making yours at home, end of story. IMO the VPX bar has a better profile, albeit not the pinnacle of profiles: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/vpx/zero.html. You can also look into the DS Sustain bar: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/design/sustain.html.

    I just ordered a variety pack of those Pro42 bars, I'll give them a shot then try out the chocolate peanut butter VPX bars. Thanks for the input

    looks pretty clean to me.....if your bulking these are more than fine....very little sugar.....lots of protein lots of cals......qualifies as 'clean bulk' to me

    I highly recommend you go with the Pumpkin Supreme flavor with the VPX bars. They taste amazing and the VPX bar has the best profile for a bar IMO.

    i truly thought those things were going to be disgusting when they gave out the samples of them at the arnold......but then on the way home i tried one.....and subsequently ate every sample we had, they are pretty good.....nothing like the supreme protein bars though OMG

    I've heard good things taste wise about the supreme bar, but it just has so many sugar alcohols that I havent had a desire to grab a whole box. Maybe I'll pick up an individual bar sometime just to give the taste a shot.

    well i'll guess that the rest of those carbs that aren't counted in the total are sugar alcohols which i'm still out on....i can't fathom they're really very bad for you since all the bar guys seem to be using them now but i dunno that they are very good either

    How about for post-workout?

    I had a whey shake + fruit immediately after I worked out and then about a half hour after that I had one of these bars. Think that's OK?

    I'm just trying to figure out what are the best times to eat these because they're expensive and I don't have many so I want to put them to good use.

    I'm not a fan of replacing your meal afterwards with any bar... so again, I'll recommend against it, unless it is absolutely that or nothing (and you can't carry food with you).
