USA: Government Gone Wild
Once upon a time, We the People created a government. The purpose of this government was to Serve We the People as a whole, from the poor orphaned children, to the wealthiest person in the country. From the Corporations to the Mom and Pop store. From the foster children to the single man. From the farmer to the dancer. From the Christian to the Muslim. From the Buddhist to the Atheist. From the African American to the Caucasian American. All the people from the shores of California to the Shores of Maine. From the people in our protectorates to the people in Alaska and Hawaii. From the fingernail artist to the Alaskan crab fishermen.
The government that We the People created was meant to serve us. Every single person elected to join this government were elected with the belief that they understood and knew that they were entering into service. Not into a place of power, but a place of service. Not into a place of domination, but a place of service. Not into a position of elitism, but a position of service. We the People expected them to maintain their integrity and not be bribed and bought off by corporate cash. We elected them and told them we had faith in them, through that vote.
We the People elected them for specific purposes, the self-same purposes to which We the People created the government to begin with. We elected them to protect our soveriegnty. We elected them to protect our freedom. We elected them to protect our freedom of religion. We elected them to protect and uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. We elected them to protect our right to privacy.
We did not elect them to destroy our soveriegnty, to destroy our freedoms, to strip us of our privacy, or to control us. We did not elect them so that they could serve the desires of the wealthy and ignore the needs of the poor.
Yet this is what they have done.
And today, my friend... today is the day that We the People have chosen to take back our country from those who would attempt to use the system created to protect us, to instead attempt to enslave us.
We the People may feel helpless and hopeless. We the People may wonder what we can do. And today, my friend, my fellow member of these United States of Freedom and Democracy and the Brave... today I will tell you what We the People can do. Today is the day that We the People will rise up, in a silent, yet powerful revolution. Today is the day that We the People will choose our own brand of freedom. Today is the day that we will throw off the Yoke of Oppression created under the pretense of "The War on Terror," perhaps better called, "The War OF Terror Leveled Against We the People."
What, then, can we do to regain and retain our freedoms?
Return to the old ways. Today, We the People are in bondage to the systems that were created to make our lives better. We fear the loss of these systems. But today... ah, today, my friend, we can throw off the bondage, and with it, the fear.
Return to the first Rule of Life that we learn even as children at our mothers' knees. "Love your neighbor as yourself." Stand up, go outside, meet your neighbors. Today, right now, begin to cooperate with them. Work together with them. Give up the cold and unfriendly concept of "I'm minding my own business," and begin anew with, "I am loving my neighbor." If a neighbor is in need, rise up and help them as a neighborhood. These people who live beside you are not your enemy, unless you make them so. Instead of fighting over the dog barking, loan each other your yard equipment. Rather than arguing over land lines, mow each other's yards. Rather than complain about them, take them a fresh-baked cake. Before you lock the door at night, wave to each other and wish each other well.
Grow a garden, and learn how to can your food. Work together to harvest and can, and share amongst one another. Some grow this, some grow that, and everyone share.
Get things that work without electricity. Turn off the TV. Go outside. Walk barefoot. Get to know the land again. Remember Earth? Remember the land on which you live? Work with it. Know it, embrace it. Remember again how it was to work the land, to feed yourself from the fruits of your labor directly, instead of through the artifical construct of money. You don't need money in order to eat, just a garden and some canning jars. Once, people ate without any money at all. You and I can do this, too. Now.
Barter for anything and everything you can, end our enslavement to money and never fear recession again. Focus on the education of your children, rather than keeping up with the Joneses.
Sing about Peace. Sing about Hope. Sing about Life. Make the Peace Symbol (maybe you can skip getting high, if you want, though). Teach your children how to sew and how to grow their own food and how to love life and live on little or no money at all. Teach them how to make cloth- learn how yourself. Teach them to knit and crochet and how to raise rabbits or chickens or cows. Teach them what can grow in a single window with just a bit of sun- learn that yourself.
Set yourself free by disconnecting from the systems. Wash clothes by hand- learn how. Dry them on a clothesline. Go back to the land, back to the old ways. Our "conveniences" have enslaved us to a government gone mad with greed for power. Give them up. Take the plunge, and set yourself free. Pay your bills, but stop creating new ones. Create no new debt, ever again.
Make a solar cooker and set yourself free from electricity and fossil fuels. De-evolve from the dependence on the Systems. Step backwards in time to when life was simple and peace was possible. We the People can free ourselves from the systems. Today is the day to start our de-volution back to a simpler time and place. A time when the government was our Servant, not our wannabe Overlord.
Disconnect. Unplug.
Set We the People free again.
I'm not waiting for you, though. I'm starting with me. I'm reaching out to my own neighbors. I'm starting my own garden. What about you, are you ready to start with you?
(Please repost freely, no credit required. Please don't credit yourself, though, either, obviously).

This goes in line with my view of no more dynaty political families and no more career politicians. We need to begin electing the TRUE public service folks again. The farmers, the mom and pop store owners, the butchers, the REAL prior service folks who can speak about actions from experience not speculation.

Very nice prose, interesting ideas.
"Take back freedom by canning food!"
Anyone else find it ironic that the medium she chose to disseminate her piece is the very same she slanders?
Anyway, reps, you're extremely creative.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the internet!
But if it were gone tomorrow, I wouldn't even be sad.
The answer isn't to give up everything completely and go totally grunge. The point is to begin to create a system so that, should the systems like electricity and money fail us...
We'll all be able to shrug and say, "So what?"
I'd like to KEEP my internet *hugs the internet*, but not at the price of freedom. If it means that I have to get an RFID chip in my hand so they can track me, and if it means that everything I purchase is tracked and "flagged" if it doesn't meet "protocol for an average citizen," and X numbers of flags means I get investigated... it's not worth it.
I'm not saying to completely get rid of it. it's here, enjoy it in moderation, nothing wrong with that.
It's not the ENJOYMENT of these things that is the problem... that is the setup for control...
It's the dependence.

I really like this part
Remember when you were a kid and you could keep yourself occupied for
hours with nothing more than a few tree branches and some mud? When it
was time to eat our parents had to drag us by our shirt collar into the house.
Now as adults, we are hopelessly dependent on actors and professional
athletes to keep us entertained.

actually the people themselves chose not to vote for him, they could have done it but didnt

Really though, if you think the government is out of control now, read up on the history of the time period 1790-1820.

what was the main thing about that period?
1898-1920ish was pretty crazy too. dawn of the US age of imperialism and all that.

thing is they could not have exercised the same control over the masses back then as they can now.
In reality if they wanted to, they could round up most of you in 48 hours, and few would be able to put up any kind of resistance, guns or not.
This is the scary part, back then an order issued could travel a few days to reach remote locations, now it takes less than a second.

I loved this piece. I'll post it every where I can and absolutely give the credit to the woman only known as Amris.
I have been in deep thought for many months on just the things you have written. I have already started having a fondness for working outside. I have started a very small garden and it is really doing great. I notice I'm turning off the TV more to do something much more worth while and meaningful.
I imagine more people will jump on the bandwagon when they see their government fail them time and time again.
I just hope it is not too late when that time comes.
We can also start by electing better people at the local levels. That will eventually filter up.

By the way, I'm in the process of creating a solar oven, and I've already got my garden going... I am learning a LOT about gardening, wow!
