Abs.....Should I lay off the weights when training Abs?
Okay I'll get right to it. Need advise on whether or not I should continue doing resistance training for my Abs and Obliques. I've recently slowed down on the resistance training for the Obliques, and added more resistance training for my Lower Abs. I can't decide if I want bulky Obliques like Terrell Owens or to have them flat. Please advise and while you're at it throw in a Bodyfat estimate if you will.

Go for abs like Ryan Reynolds. He basically did leg lifts with a dumbbell in between for resistance. I've tried these, much more effective than a regular leg lift.

Thanks Man! He's exactly who I had in mine. What about the Obliques though? Should I continue to do weights with them? That's my dilemma. What you guys thing?

Personally I'd keep it to where your body tapers opposed to just being a solid "block"..
Question though, what are some good exercises to make your obliques grow? Usually I'll grab a 45 plate and just do oblique crunches while standing..

That's a good one. I also like to do the Cable crunches to the side. You know the one where you use the cables and get on your knees? Well I do this to the middle and to each side. Also my gym has the machine that you sit in and rotate your torso from side to side. I like that one as well.

Like the other poster said, the side bends with a dumbbell or barbell plate is one. There's another one where you use an exercise ball. Lay down on the ground and put the ball underneath the back of your kness, grip it and twist from side to side. Someone posted a YouTube of a guy named Gustavus Wyche doing a bunch of movements with the exercise ball and they're a nice change of pace from the usual.

Okay, so I think I'll lay off the resistance training with my Obliques and continue with the resistance training for my lower Abs.
