Hi Guys,
I've got kinda of a weird male body. I have mediterannean (Italian) genes, and it makes my body looks ill proportioned. I have practically no gut. Very little love handles, however my thighs and butt are significantly large. These are the areas where I think my major fat deposits are.
I have been trying for years to lose the fat around there (you seriously cant comprehend how ill balanced I look, my upper body is very tiny, but my legs are like jelly tree trunks). For the past 4 months, I have had a personal trainer. I told him, I don't want "bigger" legs, I want thinner toned legs. However, while we have been working out on them. I feel that my legs have increased in muscle mass, but the fat is still there. I think they will turn into rugby player legs, which is what I dont want. I don't want huge bulking legs of steel. I just want toned medium sized legs.
Does any male of a similar background/story have any hints tips as to how to lose the fat around this area.
Personal Info:
Age: 21
Supplements taking: Green Bulge Creatine (going on no explode once it runs out), Hydroxycut Hardcore (going on Animal Cuts once I run out), MuscleMilk and multivitamin tablets.
Excercises: Jog around 8 times per week. SOmetimes in the morning, most of the times at night. However my knee has been playing up lately so I havent been doing that recently.
I used to skip (jump rope), however that killed my calves, and I'm going to get back into it, as it is less intense on the knees.
Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Well, I can't say I have this problem. I have a bigger than average butt, but nothing too bad.
Here is what I would recommend:
-- Really evaluate your diet, this is the key to dropping fat, eat clean
-- Throw in some stairstepper machine and do lunges.
-- I would stay with the creatine, try and find one that doesn't make you retain water
-- Fix your DIET if it isn't a good one already
-- Probably a good call on the Animal Cuts, I've heard good things though I haven't tried it because I don't want to swallow that many pills a day.
-- Get off the Muscle Milk, it's one of (if not THE) fattiest protein out there. Get some lower cal/carb/fat protein and that should help.
-- Your DIET, modify what you eat to maximize fat loss.YGBSM

Hey gaz_ny
Im pretty much in an identical position as you are. I'm not really a big person at all, but like you, I have a larger than normal butt and just massive thighs, both of which I would like to really slim down. Pretty much looking for some good exercises to tone these both.

I think you are an endomorph, anyway I've always heard that Mediterranean genes are among the best.

Hey WildWeasel.
Thanks for your help. What is a low-fat but high-quality protein then? I just ordered two huge tubs of MuscleMilk so I will have to wait to get through them. Would you recommend anything?
Also. This is the diet my PT has given me. What do you think:
Its in not particular order but foods he encourages. He recommends limited sugar as it is the key factor in putting on weight.
? Pumpernickel and wholemeal rye breads
? eat lean meats such as CHicken breats and kangaroo sausages.
? bacon is allowed if you cut off the fat
? brown rice ONLY
? wholemeal pasta ONLY
? rice cakes with cottage cheese for snakes (before 3PM only)
? eggs are ok.... but limit eating the yellow part
? oats with bananas, strawberries and greek yoghurt
? no juices as they contain too much sugar
? only greek yoghurt as others have added sugar cubes
? cottage cheese - only cheese allowed
? blue vein cheese is ok occasionally by itself (has pennicillin so its good for your skin)
Apart from the diet what excercises (other then the side-stepper and lunges) should I be doing.
Thanks in advance.

I want to try kangaroo sausages!
Really though, Lean meats are normally...
- Turkey or chicken breasts
- Lean ground beef (try to get 95% lean)
- Tuna
- Lean cuts of pork
- Salmon (good fat)
- Tilapia
- Lean cuts of steak (look for the name "top" in the cut)
- Buffalo
- Low fat or fat free cottage cheese
- I'm sure kangaroo fits the bill also, but sometimes beef fat is mixed in with sausage for flaver so check the content.
Complex Carbs:
- Fruits and berries (some folks don't like banannas because they have more sugar)
- Whole wheat breads (I have pretty much cut out all breads but at least limit myself to one meal with bread per day)
- Oatmeal
- Corn
- Beans
- Brown Rice
- Barley
- Low fat yogert (Watch the sugar content)
- Powdered protein
I eat 6 meals a day with one serving of complex carbs (the size of my fist) and one serving of lean protein (the size of the palm of my hand) in each meal. I also eat veggies with at least two meals a day.

There are no particular excercises that spot burn fat off the body. i.e. doing squats won't burn fat off your legs and butt. Doing sufficient cardio and lifting weights and dieting properly will burn fat off the body in the order it sees fit. You can't tell it where to burn the fat from. Typically the are you dislike the most will be the last place it comes off. It's also the first place it will add fat. For me, it's my lower abs but doing tons of hanging leg raises won't get the fat layer to go away. You have to lean yourself out to the point it will start burning fat off of that area. Just keep working hard and it will go away, but probably not until you are lean everywhere else. Good Luck!

Also, I wouldn't worry that much about the muscle size of your legs just yet. When you first start working on a new program your muscles will swell and maybe grow a little at first. However, it is very hard to actually gain muscle while eating few enough calories to lose fat. The main thing weight training while dieting does is allow you to not lose the muscle you have while losing weight.

Kangaroo Sausages are absolutely FOUL. they are seriously the most painful thing to eat. Hideous texture and taste is like eating texturised rubber. Pork sausages are so much better. However it's one of those foods, you either love it or hate it.
It's exceptionally lean though and high in protein. Thats why i eat it.

all i can say is i wish i had your body. when i started working out i had thunderthighs, a huge gut, and manboobs. now i have lost a TON of fat from my thighs and legs overall, but my gut and boobs are still the same lol. in a way it's good to have nice toned legs now, but it sucks to still look fat as hell from my torso, i wish the fat would come off more evenly

I personally use Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey (Chocolate Malt flavor is awesome). I just started using it and ditched the Muscle Milk.
Exercises won't spot burn fat, but its nice to work those areas so when the fat comes off, you have some toned muscle under there.
utvolman had a good list of foods to eat. Go from that as well. Try and limit your carbs some too. I think the conventional wisdom is a 40/40/20 split between protein/fat/carbs.YGBSM

hi,
I have a problem with my thighs and waist area, it's where I can't really get rid of my bodyfat. I'm already on a high-protein, complex carb, low fat diet and my bodyfat currently even dropped to approx. 10% but I can't really tone my thighs. I don't want them to increase either though since the rest of my body lacks size compared to my legs.
Height: 1.79 m (5'10.5")
Weight: 77.8 kg (171.16 lb)
Bodyfat: 10.3 %
Chest: 94.01 cm (37.01")
Arms: 30.00 cm (11.81")
Hips: 96.49 cm (37.99")
Waist: 81.00 cm (31.89")
Thighs: 57.51 cm (22.64")
Calves: 40.01 cm (15.75")
Forearms: 24.99 cm (9.84")
Shoulders: 115.01 cm (45.28")
Neck: 41.00 cm (16.14")
I can't really knock my diet up anymore notches cause I wanna gain quality muscle mass on my upper body.
is there anything I can do?there are no shortcuts to any place worth going

I made an account on here just for this topic. I have the same problem!!! I am of mediterranean decent aswell. My parents are from southern croatia. My whole life I've been very active, I play soccer, run track and field and in grd 11 of highschool I started lifting weights. I'm now in my senior year and am noticing more and more my disproportionate butt and legs. I had a large upper body before so it wasn't as noticeable but, after switching my workout routine for agility and endurance to improve my soccer game I'm noticing some real messed up stuff. My butt and quads are massive,(the butt is what pisses me off). I work legs a lot. I run 45 mins of intervals for a warm up to each workout, on top of 2 hour soccer practices 6 times a week excluding games. Feeling my butt though it only really feels like maybe a few centimeters of fat when I flex, I've tried dieting but noticed that I would have to starve myself to lose it. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to have to live with it. Same as the OP. Besides I heard girls like a guy with a bum

I have the same problem too. My goal is to get my BMI into the average range. I recently lost 17kgs but it didn't make much difference to my proportions.
Also, have you tried the kangaroo steaks and roasts. They have them at the local Woolies. The steaks are delicious if cut the the right thickness and tenderised and the roast is great if cooked well done. The sausages sound nasty, and you done know what they have added to get them to taste like meat.

re the legs--genetics gave me large, thick calves and quads. When I was overweight, they were freakishly large, especially the calves. When you get leaner, you'll just have well developed legs, that many, especially bodybuilders, will envy. Calves, from what I've heard, are very hard to build. So, don't sweat it. Plus, there's nothing you can really do about it.

stop taking creatine.
start dieting.

Former Monster ass & thighs here.
Still got a layer of fat everywhere but most is on my butt.
I actually got some saggy skin on my inner thighs from the fat loss so that tells me the butt is next on the list as it's my last large fat storage area on my body.
Just gotta keep cutting.

Ok Guys!
Here are my 2 cents. I am endo and my lower body is heavier than my upper body. Same issue big butt huge thighs. Problem finding jeans that fit and T-shirts that are not too long that get tight around my hips.
It is not very difficult to loose your lower body fat. But, in order to make it work you have to start training you upper body seriously so, it all balances out.
The Solution---------->>>> RUN, RUN and RUN. Simple as that.
I would suggest only this kind of cardio to get rid of that fat. But you'll loose fat from other parts also and end up with a thinner upper body than before. So train your upper body hard. Eat clean. Do one leg workout per week and use decent weight. Yes, keep training those legs once in a while.
30-45 of running/jogging on a moderate pace will do it for sure. Just keep your diet in check.

I am having a similar problem, except that its my butt and not really the rest of my legs...looks weird from the side xD......anyways...i was strictly told to walk or fast walk instead of run/jog as that focuses a lot more on the buttocks then running/jogging. Plus, running and jogging on a regular basis is bad for your joints. Have a nice day good sir.
