    Today's Diet

Hey everyone...i started a keto diet on Monday, and would like a critique of my diet thus far. Every day has been pretty much identical to today.

Should I look to drop my carbs further? I have been going by macro-percentage ratio rather than a solid, specified number (such as 20 grams). I realize that I may not enter ketosis as quickly.

Is it okay that 10g of the 40g of carbs have been fiber?

All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all!

looks good to me. if you are concerned with entering ketosis faster, you can try a few things:

    - reducing carbs to as close to zero as possible
    - upping fats and lowering protein for a few days
    - cutting whey completely except PWO

but your macros are spot on, good job.

Your carbs really shouldnt be too much of an issue, but for me they would If I was doing keto, your concern is sugars bro...You will never stay in or be on keto with that above diet..

    Muscle sugar milk hello?

    hot dogs? can't be serious

    cheese? lots of dairy sugars..

Nope that isn't a keto diet, it's a Wisconsinites dream diet. That being said if you are not 2 serious about getting cut up, don't listen to the above.

Wow...I had no idea the 4 grams of sugar in MM would throw me off track that badly! (no sarcasm)

The hot dogs have no sugar, only 2 grams of god knows what carbs...and I thought dairy was supposed to be a key component of a keto diet? You suggest I don't use any types of cheeses? It seems your opinion is against 95% of all diets posted.

Can anyone clarify about dairy products?

dairy IS a key component. and most cheeses are low in sugar -- invidentally so. cheese is good.

as long as muscle milk is PWO only, it isfine... better than fine, its ideal becauce 15g is the right number of pwo carbs.

hot dogs, well, there's better, but in a pinch there isnt much wrong with em. i would avoid them personally just because i cant stomach em :P

bottom line -- you are doin fine, and that is most definetely keto.

Little dairy won't hurt u, but keep in mind if you where doing a contest dairy would not be allowed, food for thought. If I was u I wouldn't use any dairy, but again that is just me.

wow carbs... you could avoid so many of them!

your cheese choices are good as they're low in carb but high in fat etc

maybe consider replacing the peanuts with different nuts as they're pretty high in carbs. i buy a bag of mixed nuts (organic) and they contain 2g net carbs per 30g serving (or mine do anyway!!)

cut out the muscle milk if i were you- might keep you out of ketosis. replace it with a different kind of shake. maybe a normal whey shake with some cream or something. choices are endless.

your macros look "perfect", but the choices you've made aren't the best. i'd restrict the carbs more at least until you're a very experienced keto'er

    good luck!

Switch the peanuts to almonds, plain almonds. Get rid of the muscle milk and eat beef.

The reason I have been eating peanuts is because I am allergic to almonds. Whenever I eat them, I breakout and my throat gets very itchy. They also worsen my asthma symptoms and sometimes make it hard to breathe...so i try to avoid almonds. Are there any other alternatives to the peanuts?
