Symmetry?

I was wondering if anyone had any good ways to bring a lagging body part up to speed. Is it a matter of slowing down the muscles that are increasing until the lagging muscle catches up, or do I somehow try to increase stimulus to the lagging muscle? How would I know if a muscle was lagging due to over training or under training? If the answer is to slow (or stop) the progress on the muscle groups that are growing well, how do I best achieve that? Would it be better to slow or stop progression or do I just eliminate stimulus all together?

I hope this all makes since, as you can tell I’m a bit confused at the moment.

Thanks,
Holly

What body part is it? I wouldn't slow down progress on one side...try doing exercises that involve one leg or one arm at a time, so that the lagging muscle has to work all by itself...1 leg presses or squats for example or shoulder presses with DBs

If a certain bodypart is seriously lagging, do some extra sets and reps each time you work that particular muscle group. Simple, easy, and it works.

Ok so the both of you think that additional stimulation to my weak areas is the best way to go. I'll incorporate that strategy into my next cycle and see how that goes.

Thanks for the quick responses btw.

twinnett it's not a one side versus the other side sort of issue. The problem is that my glute/hip/upper hamstring doesn't seem to be growing as fast as my back/shoulders/arms. I know this is reverse of what most on here have going on but I guess everyone is different.

Currently I do upper body on one day and lower body on a different day, do either of you (or anyone else) think that working that region twice a week instead of just once would be a good idea?

Thanks,
Holly
