muscles too tight?

Every time I start lifting real heavy or start to gain muscle size, my chest occasionally feels like it gets way to tight. I will be fine, then go to reach for something behind me or even make a sudden movement and the side of my chest feels like a string on a guitar. Same w my hamstrings. . Trying to get more protien, glutamine, and making sure I stretch really well after my workouts. Any suggestions? Need some help BC problem will go away, but always comes back.

I'll try my best not to answer your question.. Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid, meaning you body produces it on a needs basis. Supplementing glutamine orally has not been shown scientifically to increase intra-muscular concentrations of glutamine and is therefore useless- save your money.

Other than stretching I have no idea what to tell you...

Wow, I've never heard that about glutamine. I take it during my workout and I think it does a lot of good.

I used to get really really sore after hockey (we have it everyday) and started to take glutamine then everything was not as sore.
Not trying to be contradictive, just sharing.

Help

Does anyone have any better tips or ideas if maybe I tore something and it just didn't heal right? I've been upping my total carb and protien intake. I also have to keep my workouts to every third day. Sick as Monday then Thursday but then again I do full body. Seems to take me forever to recover.

could be overtraining, not enough sleep, slack diet, too much volume for you, bad form, etc. We dont know your habits on lifts and your routine for that matter. If you lift very hard and intense you need a break every 8-12 weeks. If you have not lifted very long I would say 12 weeks if your an advanced lifter 8 weeks. If you abide by that rule I find people have less problems, along with a good diet, enough sleep, and proper routine. As far as creatine, and glutamine go, if your a serious lifter and depending on your diet in my personal experience your body sometimes cant keep up with your needs. So supplementing with these do help, but you generally only a fraction of what the bottle or container suggests.

Taking a break is a good idea. Plus I'm trying to make sure I feed my body well. With all the work and intense workouts I could see how I could have a tendency to overdo it.
