Protein Pancakes

I added some maple extract in to the blueberries but it wasn't really noticeable.

Thankyou Emma !!!
Now that i know its a myth and sodium isnt bad it will be so much easier to stick to my diet, infact i'll look forward to eating my meals.

Nice answer, Ems!
I actually never thought of it that way. But that leads to a follow up question (sorry for the hijack ) why is adding table salt so frowned upon, then?

No hijack.. so don't stress...
For the general public? The reason why it is bad is because:
1. people eat crap food which is overly salted already (eg: packed foods) - so they already likely get 2 x the recommended intake
2. everyone is overweight, lazy, has high blood pressure, and is on the way to diabetic kidney disease...!!!
So in these cases it is a good thing that salt is not added to meals... They are getting enough anyway... They don't need to increase their blood pressure any further... They don't sweat ANYTHING out (unless they eat a hot fatty curry from the take away store ).... And their kidneys are already damaged, distressed, and working overtime...!!
So as you can see - for the 'fit healthy young community' that are eating well the 'don't add salt' health issue is not really an issue they need to be worried about...!!! Also - the reason why people cling to the principle in this community is not actually for the health reasons above, but the 'aesthetic' reasons ('it makes you fat' or 'it stalls process' or 'it will make you bloat' thing as discussed above)... And so, just as with the 'fruit' myth and the 'dairy' myth and the 'carbs at night' myth... the salt myth it another one of those 'cause the cut person at the gym told me so....' things that gets passed down in the bb'ing generations.
[just note - people who cut out salt are also at risk of iodine deficiency. Table salt is usually iodised and it is one of the only sources for most people... so if anyone reading this DOESN'T have table salt/ include iodised salt substitutes - then you might want to make sure you are getting iodine from something else in your diet to make up the deficiency]

And to get back on topic...
Operation Roo and Stew
- Mumpkin (I used Kent)
- Sweet Tato
- Red Capsicum (sweet pepper to those above the equator)
- Green Beans
- Fresh Spinach
- Roo Roast
- Pine Nuts
- Garlic
- Black pepper and other herbs/ spices to taste
- Thick wedge of lemon
Combine mumpkin, sweet tato, capsicum, garlic, nuts and roo in crock pot.
Season to taste and add the wedge of lemon and a tbs water.
Cook on high for ~ 1-2 hrs until roast is sealed.
Add green beans then turn onto low and leave for 6-8 hrs.
Before serving - stir in spinach and allow it to wilt (~ 20 mins). Then remove roast and sit for 5 mins before carving.
Spoon vegetables onto serving plates and top with roast then garnish with a little more pepper!
[note - you may be questioning the image?? Well - pic are actually of my lunches for the week! So.. ermm... not looking so fancy ]

Omlette with Mozzarella Cheese and Turkey Pepperoni w/ a side of veggies!
Next time I will add some Ricotta to make it more like a calzone

3 egg whites
2 yolks - you can use 3 yolks as well it just depends on what macros you want
1/8 tsp cream of tartar or 1/2 tsp baking powder
3 ounces cream cheese - I used low fat but you can use full fat as well
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Separate the eggs and add cream of tartar (or baking powder) to the whites, and cream cheese to the yolks. Use a mixer to combine the ingredients together. In a separate bowl, whip egg whites and cream of tartar (or baking powder until STIFF! Afterwards mix the yolks and cream cheese
Use a spatula and fold the egg yolk mix into the whites. Take it slow so you don't break down the whites.
Spoon the mix onto a sheet, should make 6 buns.
Bake for about 25 minutes.
Take them out, let them cool down and enjoy!
Total macros all 6 buns - means there's about 37 calories in 1 bun.
222 calories
Fat: 10 gram
Protein: 25 gram
Carbs: 4 gram
*I personally used 2 yolks and Fat Free Cream Cheese*
They are a bit more moist than buns but I think they are great!!

This recipe is yummyy !!!
