LOL! That's awesome! Yeah, I loved Bart's run as Flash and I wish they would have kept him. I remember when he was first introduced as Impulse. I have to agree with you about Countdown as well. Unfortunately it felt like a countdown to wasted money. I just ended up not caring about the main characters in it, like Jimmy Olsen. Hopefully Final Crisis will pull through.

Anyone mentioned "The Spectre" yet. There was a stunning run of 60 comics from 92-97 by John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake.

Yeah Marvel puts a lot more thought into it, Like with secret invasion they have been quietly setting it up for like four years or something... DC's 52 is the only big event I have read from them but it was such a convoluted mess that I havent even wanted to read any DC material outside of Batman and even that has gotten stale until recently..
Did they kill off Martian Manhunter?

? Midwestern militia groups revolt against their local governments in protest of rampant U.S. adventurism overseas and, in the absence of the National Guard, are able to gain far more ground than they thought possible. Small insurgent groups pop up in towns and cities across the country, and a sizable force, the Free States Army, pushes toward Manhattan. The city proves too big for them to take, and also for the U.S. Army to defend. The war stalls there, a stalemate, neither side being able to shift things.[3] ?

Its a comic in the Vertigo line... Its set in a future where civil war has broken out in the states... Manhatten bocomes a demilitarized zone (DMZ) and serves as a buffer between the two sides... Right now in the series its pretty much at a stalemate and Manhatten has become a ghetto / Ghosttown ... The main character is Matthew Roth who is a reporter stuck inside the ghetto, and he ends up being the only journalist within the DMZ and begins to report to the outside world. Its a pretty good book if you like human stories and such.. Which I do.

Hey haven't chimed in a while. Oh yeah, this was a great series during the Ostrander/Mandrake era, great art work, great storylines. One of my favorite covers ever was the Glow in the Dark issue. I remember it hanging on my wall at night and I would lay there staring at it. I highly recommend this book, does anyone know if they put this into graphic novel form?

Infinite Crisis (along with Identity Crisis) ruined DC Comics for me.
Marv Wolfman took four great characters (Alex Luther, Superboy Prime, Superman & Lois Lane of Earth 2) and gave them a very fitting happy ending twenty years ago. Infinite Crisis reserected these characters just to destroy them. Complete waste.

Spoiler warning if you follow the link.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Grant Morrison explained that what's going to happen to Batman is "so much better than death. People have killed characters in the past but to me, that kind of ends the story! I like to keep the story twisting and turning. So what I am doing is a fate worse than death. Things that no one would expect to happen to these guys at all. This is the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman."

just started getting into comics.... yah... at 30. lol.
friend of mine brought a bunch of comics on a trip to hawaii. i read girls by the luna brothers, and it blew my mind. social commentary, gender issues, killer sperm, and hawt naked girls. it was fukkin awesome. lots and lots of twists and plot turns to keep the pages moving.
working on y the last man. unfortunately, B&N doesn't have volume 6. so, i gotta wait before i can get that. my friend also recommended ULTRA, walking dead, ex machina (which looks sick... not enough $$ to get into it though...) and wanted. any opinions on these? i like comics with endings... i think thats why i didn't get into comics before. i want resolution, some kind of conclusion.Daily Electronic Music Enlightenment Thread - Come on Down to the Underground
